EDGE OF TOMORROW Star Emily Blunt Reveals Brutal Advice From Tom Cruise When She Had Doubts About The Movie

Edge of Tomorrow star Emily Blunt has revealed the harsh words of advice co-star Tom Cruise offered her when she struggled to come to terms with the realities of starring in a big budget sci-fi movie.

Based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's acclaimed 2004 novel All You Need Is Kill, Edge of Tomorrow was released in 2014 to positive reviews and a solid $370 million haul at the worldwide box office on a $178 million budget.

Directed by Dough Liman, the movie starred Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt as soldiers trapped in a time loop, with the former using that as an opportunity to better his skills and eventually defeat Earth's alien invaders. Despite making use of some familiar ideas, they came together in a fun way and the premise was one that left sci-fi fans desperate for a sequel.

As of right now, that appears no closer to becoming a reality, but Blunt has shared some insights into her time working on the project.

"We had to wear these enormous suits, which I think would've been great if we had CGI'd them, but we wanted to do it in a tactile way," Blunt revealed during the SmartLess podcast (via SFFGazette.com). "When you hear the word 'tactile,' you think that sounds nice and cozy. There was nothing cozy about these suits. It was like 85 pounds. It was so heavy."

"The first time I put it on I started to cry, and [Cruise] didn't know what to do," the actress admitted. "I was like, 'Tom, I'm not sure how I'm going to get through this shoot,' and just started to cry. 'I'm feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.'"

"He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, 'Come on, stop being such a pussy, OK?'" In no way offended by her co-star's remarks, Blunt recalls bursting into laughter after being caught off guard by what he said and explained how it then made embarking on the production that much easier.

However, wearing the suit did result in long-lasting injuries to her ribs and collarbone.

Cruise is no stranger to dangerous stunts and continues to push the boundaries of what he's capable of. With that in mind, his harsh words of advice make sense and clearly helped Blunt at a time when she needed help overcoming this obstacle.

Do you think we'll eventually get an Edge of Tomorrow sequel?

if the sequel does happen, hopefully they learn from their previous work and can find a way to lighten it up a bit

@dracula - ...I really don't see the problem with that. It's about mankind on the brink of extinction and the scars of war.

Hell, it's actually very light compared to the Manga it's based off.

While I find Scarlett very attractive, I do think Emily feels more like she could play a sophisticated icy russian assassin.

Union is the future for America.

Multi billion dollar corporations are way too greedy now. Billions in profit but they don't want to pay fairly.

NOBodY WaNtS To WoRK🤡🤡🤡🤡

That phrase is propaganda from corporate media and neo conservative and neo lib con artist that want you to believe laziness is the source of the labor markets state today.

When in reality it's greed that is ruining America.

Work better. Work union😎

@bobevanz - Yeah, it always seems odd how America is scared of unions and runs Cold War style propaganda against them.

Doesn't need a sequel, but if Cruise & Blunt are in it, I'll go see it.

Unless they are both in it(EXTREMELY unlikely), forget it.
