Well, December is the month when we will finally see some footage from Paramount Pictures & J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, a sequel to the very successful 2009 reboot. Yesterday, it was revealed that fans will be able to see the first nine minutes of footage from the sequel, if they go and see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in IMAX 3D. Now, thanks to TrekMovie, we also know that a full-length theatrical trailer will be attached to non-IMAX screenings. More below:

"TrekMovie has exclusively learned from multiple trusted sources that the first trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness will premiere with screenings of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14th. To be clear this Trek trailer is a completely different thing than the 9-minute preview of the beginning of the new movie which will be shown at IMAX screenings of the Hobbit film."

Writer of the film Damon Lindelof also confirmed this. It remains to be seen if the trailer will appear online before December 14th, or after. Directed by J.J. Abrams, and starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Peter Weller, Star Trek Into Darkness is set to hit theatres on May 17, 2013.

Never really been into star trek but i'm going to watch the hobbit regardless so i suppose this is kinda cool. I'm really hoping that WB put the next man of steel trailer next to the hobbit' and they will if they are smart.

Although I am interested in The Hobbit, I'm not a huge fan of the franchise so I was gonna wait for it on DVD but damn, if they're not making me want to be there on opening night! If MOS trailer gets attached to it, then the ticket is already bought.

@thegambitfreak - I seriously doubt it. I don't think they'll be going into Kirk's dad's history at all in this film. Plus if he was we'd of probably heard about it by now.

So now I have to figure out my plans for watching this...I'm thinking first in regular IMAX, then HFR, then either reg or HFR 3D IMAX to be sure to get the 9min trailer.

Now shut up and take my money!!!
