Godzilla & the M.U.T.O's

We all know Godzilla is going to stomp over whatever monstrous competition may confront him; but just what is it that he is facing?

The powers that be have been very secretive in the Godzilla marketing campaign. We know the basics that make up almost any Godzilla film; Godzilla will destroy lots of things, there will be many humans caught in the crossfire, and of course, Godzilla will be clashing with other monsters. The trailers for the film have given us the shortest of glimpses to the other creatures (known as M.U.T.O's) that Godzilla will be facing. Here is a possible breakdown of the creatures we will - and might - be seeing in the film in a few weeks.

M.U.T.O #1 = Winged creature

We've seen this creature advertised extensively, between attacking the train carrying Ford and the airport to diving into the water in the trailer.

M.U.T.O #2 = Non-winged/eight-legged creature

Not as heavily featured as the first creature, but with a very similar look. It's quite possible that these are male/female versions of the same species.

M.U.T.O #3 = Ten legged teaser creature

This creature was glimpsed in the teaser trailer, lying in a heap (possibly dead). Bandai has also advertised this as a Godzilla-related toy to be released at a later date. There's been no indication of what this beast looks like outside of the teaser trailer, as most of the trailers and marketing have focused on the previous two M.U.T.O's.

M.U.T.O #4 = Mantis creature

Another mysterious creature advertised as a Godzilla-related toy. There's no indication that this creature will be in the film, but its inclusion with the 3rd M.U.T.O raises some slight suspicion.

What are your theories on these monsters, and how do you think they'll stack up against the king of monsters? Post your theories and comments below!

I honestly think we will get #'s 3 and 4 in the second film (Yes, we are getting a second film).

Honestly, I don't care. I'm so frigging excited that this movie looks good that at this point it doesn't even need a monster. If any of the ideas you have are in there, it's just icing on the cake. They all look awesome.
