GODZILLA VS. KONG Adds HOLD THE DARK Actor Alexander Skarsgård As A Military Leader

Adam Wingard's Godzilla Vs. Kong movie has added Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, Big Little Lies, Hold The Dark) in a leading role.

According to Variety, the in-demand actor will play "the leader of a military unit," but they don't provide any other details on his character.

The plot of this highly anticipated clash between two of cinema's most iconic monsters is still under wraps, but it's a safe enough bet that it will involve Godzilla and King Kong having a bit of a disagreement over something.

Skarsgård joins Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, Danai Gurira, Demian Bichir and Millie Bobby Brown, whose character will make her debut in next year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla vs. Kong is set to stomp into theaters on May 22, 2020.

@ODanil - Hold the Dark is really good! One of the best horror/thriller films of the year imo.

And yeah, that Godzilla trailer was the best from comic con.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I was really excited for Hold the Dark, but sadly it didn't do much for me. Gorgeous looking, atmospheric movie, but the story and the characters were... there, probably?! I didn't dislike Wright's character and the sheriff, but even they didn't leave much of an impression on me.

So glad that Apostle at least partially lived up to my expectations.

They have been going full tilt boogie with their castings on these films lately. I can not wait for King of the Monsters, that trailer was just perfect.

Wait.
So is Godzilla v. King Kong a PREQUEL to the Godzilla films or a sequel?

To everyone interested in Anime, the third and last opus of the Godzilla trilogy, Planet Eater, is out in a couple of weeks. The first 2, made by the team that did Knights of Sidonia, were actually really good and visually stunning. Pacing issues and OP teenagers leading adults in a sea of tropes, but a really nice moment for Godzilla fans.

@Asturgis - Those movies have been really good so far. They swim in anime tropes, but I think it's part of its charm.

@Asturgis - As the biggest die hard Godzilla fan I know these films, for me, have been extremely disappointing. The lack of actual Godzilla fights has easily been the biggest problem and when a fan can do better then the actual films themselves its hard to support this trilogy.
This shouldve been in the film!

@MrNegative - I hear you about the fighting, but I think they're building up to it. First one introduced Godzilla as this titan that can't die and will still be here thousands of years later when the world is gone, it was a set-up to scare the humans shitless. The second showed him as this unstoppable juggernaut that can't be contained, and humans trying to pester him like flies. From what we've seen about the city and the natives who are protecting something, probably Mothra sleeping underground or something, I think the last movie will have him fight Mothra or a new Mecha Godzilla.

Hold the Dark messed me up, I don't really know how to feel about it. I will say I've liked Skasgard since True Blood so him in anything is good news. He really does need to be in a Comic Book Movie already because he's got the muscles already.

I'm still patiently waiting for the time when they go all out with this films.

Liked both Godzilla and Skull Island, and I'm already liking better the feel of the G2 trailer, but I want the crossover NOW!
