GODZILLA VS. KONG Director Adam Wingard Addresses The Size Difference Between The Two Monsters

Godzilla is significantly larger than the King Kong we met in Skull Island, so how will the two come to blows in 2020 without the latter monster just being eaten up? Director Adam Wingard addresses that...

2020 will see the release of Godzilla vs. Kong, a movie which will obviously pit two of the world's most iconic monsters against each other (and probably a larger threat which forces them to team up).

IGN caught up with director Adam Wingard at Comic-Con yesterday evening and he provided an update on where things stand with the project. "It's been a pleasure already in the first stages of it, having an excuse to go back and watch 30 Godzilla movies and justifying it to yourself. For me, it's about taking the series to the next level." So, it's going to be epic then but is there a hero and villain?

"I think they're very similar in a lot of ways. It's easy to demonize Godzilla on one hand, but I have a lot of emotional attachment to both monsters." After Kong: Skull Island, it's definitely going to be easier to relate to the giant ape but don't forget that he's actually a lot less gigantic than Godzilla! How is that going to be tackled? "They gave us a good out in Kong when they mentioned that Kong is still growing, but that'll be a challenge we have to deal with, and we're very aware of that issue."

Wingard went on to confirm that Godzilla vs. Kong is still taking aim at that 2020 release so we should start hearing more about the movie as soon as next year. It's definitely going to be interesting seeing how the size difference is handled in the movie and whether or not it makes any sense, though!

...so exactly what we all knew was going to happen because Skull Island took place in the past and the fact that Kong wasn't fully grown was a plot point? Why were people asking about this? Do they not watch the movies?

Godzilla>Skull Island

Skull have really good effects (if not even great) and cinematography but it really lacks something. maybe it was characters development. most of the army man and scientist are expendable. main characters are good (besides Sam Jackson one. his character annoyed the hell out of me) but it's the secondary characters that did not worked well on screen. the movie also lacked some tension. they showed Kong too early, like 5 minutes after they reach the island. i also did not like this secret organisation they created at the end of the movie. although this scene tease Godzilla pretty well.

I doubt they will fight each other the entire movie, even though it's called Godzilla vs Kong, they will obviously have to partner-up after fighting to defeat together an even bigger foe. Also, even though Godzilla is obviously more powerful than Kong, I believe in the old movies Kong got some kind of electrical power that allowed him to punch Godzilla and stun him.
