Godzilla Vs. Kong will be the first of many (barring any further release delays) big event movies heading our way this year, and we have an awesome new Chinese poster for the highly-anticipated monster mash.

The recent trailer and TV spots have teased a massive underwater battle between the two behemoths, and here we see Big G and the great ape throw hands beneath the waves, leaving a trail of carnage behind them on the surface.

While we've been assured that "one will fall," the prevailing theory is that Godzilla and Kong will ultimately join forces to stop a larger threat to the planet - but that doesn't mean they won't do some serious damage to each other first.

“Legends collide as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.”

Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Shun Oguri, Jessica Henwick and Brian Tyree Henry, Godzilla Vs. Kong pits the two famous monsters against each other in an epic battle.

Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Max Borenstein (The Terror) wrote the screenplay, with Adam Wingard on board as director. The movie is set for release in theaters and on HBO Max on March 31.

I feel like a monkey that breathes air would be out of his element against a water breathing monster in this situation.

Makes for a cool poster though.

@TheMapleSyrup - he's a big dude, so he probably has big lungs that hold a lot of air (wait, thats not how that works right)

@TheMapleSyrup - OK, first off: a lion, swimming in the ocean. Lions don't like water. If you placed it near a river or some sort of fresh water source, that make sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, 20 foot wave, I'm assuming off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a full grown 800 pound tuna with his 20 or 30 friends, you lose that battle, you lose that battle 9 times out of 10. And guess what, you've wandered into our school of tuna and we now have a taste of lion. We've talked to ourselves. We've communicated and said 'You know what, lion tastes good, let's go get some more lion'. We've developed a system to establish a beach-head and aggressively hunt you and your family and we will corner your pride, your children, your offspring.

Wish they didn't delay this, even if ut was just for one week. I'm ready to see these two punch the shit out of each other and possibly a big-ass robot lizard

I like how they're blending the color palettes of their solo movie posters.
Kong had a red/orange tone while Godzilla 2 was dark blue.

Anyways, not a movie I'm all too excited for on my small screen. I'd have watched it in theatres but this will be a Netflix thing for me when it becomes available somewhere or I get it for cheap on BR

@ItsMilesMorales - That’s actually a pretty good article in Vanity Fair with interviews from people on the inside about what happened. There will still be people who form their own opinions but - still - whatcha gonna do? Other cool pics as well in the article.
