Variety is reporting that rising star Jessica Henwick has joined the ever-growing cast of Legendary's highly-anticipated Godzilla vs. Kong. Details on her character are being kept under lock-and-key at Monarch for now.

The 26-year-old English actress joins a massive ensemble cast that will also feature Primetime Emmy-winner Kyle Chandler (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Millie Bobby Brown (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Golden Globe-nominee Zhang Ziyi (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Danai Gurira (Avengers: Infinity War), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Academy Award-nominee Demián Bichir (The Nun), Golden Globe-winner Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies), Golden Globe-nominee Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), and Eiza González (Baby Driver).

Adam Wingard is directing the upcoming fourth chapter in Warner Bros. and Legendary's burgeoning MonsterVerse, which has been slated to roar into theaters on May 22, 2020.

Henwick is best known for her series regular role as Colleen Wing on the recently canceled Iron Fist, a role she reprised in a pair of fellow short-lived Marvel series, The Defenders and Luke Cage. Her other more prominent credits include Nymeria Sand on HBO's Game of Thrones and X-wing pilot Jessika Pava in Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I wish they would refrain from calling the film Godzilla Vesus King Kong.

@Forthas - what ya talkin about?

@Forthas - Is that not what the film is tho?

@CapnMurphy2021 - I don't like the title. It is too on the nose!
Forthas
Forthas - 11/8/2018, 7:00 PM
@LongMayHeReign - Yes it is...but the title does not need to be so specific. Let me ask you this...would you rather have the last Captain America film be titled ...Captain America Versus Iron Man?

LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 11/8/2018, 7:14 PM
@Forthas - But the actual plot of the film was about more than them just fighting. Whereas the whole reason people will go see this film is to see Godzilla vs Kong.

I give zero [frick]s about the humans I just want to see the monsters fight.

@LongMayHeReign - My understanding is that there will a another monster threat and that Kong and Godzilla will team up.

Personally if it is a set up for just a fight between two monsters then WB f#cked up again! In the initial solo films they established both monsters as fundamentally good. How would that play out in a film SOLELY about Godzilla fighting Kong?

LongMayHeReign - 11/8/2018, 7:51 PM
@Forthas - What would you expect them to call it tho?
Forthas
Forthas - 11/8/2018, 8:02 PM
@LongMayHeReign - A great title would have been "Clash of the Titans" but that has been taken.

Without putting much thought to it I would call it something like...

"Reign of the Monsters"

@Forthas - Sounds too generic, and yes I know I put you on the spot, but you have to have the name of at least one of the star attractions in the title. Even Civil War was titled Captain America: Civil War. And if you put the name of one of the monsters in it there's no guarantee that people will know the other is in it unless they see a trailer.

It's just better marketing to put both names in the title. They haven't fought in decades you have to tell the audience exactly what's happening.

@Forthas - no I’d rather it have been called Avengers: Civil War featuring a little Captain America
Forthas
Forthas - 11/8/2018, 8:24 PM
@LongMayHeReign - The marketing is bad because it harkens back to the hokey Godzilla films - Godzilla vs Mothra, Godzilla vs Mega Godzilla, Godzilla vs Rodan...it sounds like a WWE event.

I think people will be able to discern that Godzilla and King Kong are in the movie through trailers. You seem to believe that the general audience is stupid. Give them a little more credit...

@Forthas - My man the general audience supported 5 Transformers films making 2 of then billion dollar earners...I give them no credit and neither does WB.

Also yea of course the old films were hokey but that's what made them good and memorable. No one takes this shit seriously they are giant monsters people watch them to see them destroy stuff. How many people do you honestly think (and I'm talking general audience) actually know that the old monster films and Godzilla in particular are a metaphor/commentary on the atomic bomb?

@Forthas - oh. Do you really care tho? I mean... it’s King Kong... and Godzilla... and they’re fighting... the name sums that up... whether they punch for a bit and then they’re mates and team up is irrelevant... but... who cares... nitpick what ya wanna nitpick👍🏽

@Forthas -

Most of the potential audience for this movie is not going to be hardcore TOHO Godzilla
fans who can run off a list of prior movie names. They would have likely seen Non-MonsterVerse Godzilla films (including G98) at some point in their lives, Same with various King Kong films.

But neither character will have been as imprinted in their minds as Marvel and DC characters
or Star Wars/Star Trek.

Sometimes less is more and naming a movie Godzilla Vs Kong is not believing the general audience
is stupid, it's just getting to the point.

You don't need a grandiose title getting in the way of the greatest monster bash ever.

It also could be something as transactional as a contract issue where Legendary has to
give star billing to TOHOs property Godzilla and Universal Studios property King Kong.

Calling it I don't know, "War of the Monsters" may be breaking the contract.
On the other hand, Godzilla vs Kong: War of the Monsters does have a good ring to it.
