Warner Bros. and Legendary's MonsterVerse has been a little hit-and-miss, with 2014's Godzilla criticised by some fans for being light on action. Kong: Skull Island was very well-received, of course, but Godzilla: King of the Monsters proved to be a critical (and commercial) disaster.
We don't know how Godzilla vs. Kong will pan out, but even if it's a total mess, we can clearly look forward to some epic action scenes. In fact, the battle between these two behemoths promises to be the most exciting clash we'll see on screen this year, whether it's in theaters (where the movie will debut at the end of the month) or at home on HBO Max.
Regardless, there are a few jaw-dropping beats in this newly revealed Chinese trailer for the crossover event, and we're sure you'll agree that the new poster is definitely wallpaper worthy!
Here's a synopsis teasing what we can expect:
Legends collide in Godzilla vs. Kong as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.
The cast of Godzilla vs. Kong includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. It's set to be released on March 31st in the U.S., though it's simply "Coming Soon" in countries where theaters remain closed (it has been dated for March 26th in a handful of locations).
