"Get ready to explore Skull Island, the very last place on earth you want to be shipwrecked."

Skull Island is set to premiere later this month on Netflix, and Legendary has released a full trailer for its MonsterVerse-set animated series.

Taking place after the events of the live-action Kong: Skull Island movie, the plot follows a group of explorers who rescue a mysterious girl from drowning in the ocean, without realizing that they're heading for the most dangerous place on Earth.

Skull Island is home to all manner of strange creatures and terrifying monsters, including the greatest titan of them all: the giant gorilla known as Kong.

Created, written, and produced by Brian Duffield, the voice cast features Nicolas Cantu (Dragons Rescue Riders: Heroes of the Sky, The Fabelmans) as main protagonist, Charlie. Joining him are Mae Whitman (Family Guy, DC Super Hero Girls) as Annie; Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever, Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles) as Mike; Benjamin Bratt (Poker Face, Coco) as Cap; and Betty Gilpin (Mrs. Davis, Glow) as Irene.

Check out the action-packed trailer below, and let us know if you plan on checking out Skull Island when it roars onto Netflix on June 22.

"Skull Island takes viewers on a thrilling adventure as a group of kind-hearted explorers rescues Annie (Mae Whitman) from the ocean, unaware that their act of heroism will lead them to the treacherous Skull Island. This enigmatic place is home to bizarre creatures and terrifying monsters, including the mighty titan himself, Kong."

Make women super strong, smart and brave. Make BOYS weak.

They didn't waste anytime to make their point.

@Lokiwasright -I suppose the typically "Make men super strong, smart and brave. Make Girls weak." that Hollywood has supplanted for the past 100+ years would quench your appetite huh......?

@UncleHarm1 - The Men in this comment do like women but let's be honest Men are smarter and stronger than women.

Who made space travel possible? Who made the phones women are glued to? Who goes to War and fight on the front line? Who builds the houses you live in and buildings you work in? Who runs into burning buildings? Who are physically stronger?

Yeah guess Men are stupid and weak.

@marvel72 - Most of the actual math done in the 60's for NASA was done by women, look it up. And Ronda Rousey could kick the crap out of you. Men are people, women are people, trans and nonbinary folks are people, simple as that. The only difference is cultural and chromosomal.

I’m betting this will do more for Kong’s TV presence than Kong: The Animated Series ever did.

I respect women but it’s so painfully obvious that feminists run hollywood.

The writing sounds so cringe and forced

“Are all boys this useless?”

The dialogue is cringe but I love the animation. Good to see Kong again before Godzilla ×Kong

Why is the screenplay so cringey? I was excited for this show, but the more they release the less I like its premise 😑.

Here’s what they should do with the MonsterVerse Kong: make a prequel movie set during the ‘30s. Have it play out similar to the OG/Peter Jackson King Kong movies. The finale could still be in NY, but have the dark twist that the secret organization Monarch imprisoned the eye witnesses to an insane asylum.
