This week we finally get to see Jack and Locke face off again..except of course its not actually Locke, which does kind of rob the scene of some power. Anyway, it still rules. And even more importantly...

I guess the little things like how Jack's father (the smoke monster who apparently is stuck there) managed to appear off the island when Michael died is just one of those things we'll have to accept, lol!

Ah well, it's still been an awesome season and it's great to finally be getting some answers..! Awesome review as usual ROR! :)

@ Josh, my memory is a little blurry right now. Did he actually talk to his dad in his office? or did he simply see his father there? I could have been him seeing things and not really the smoke monster :)

Cheers Josh:) I think we will give a bit of leeway with Michael since it was on the freighter in the vicinity of the island at least! How he appeared to Jack at teh hospital is another thing!

Off topic, but I know some of you guys are wrestling fans. I always liked Jim Cornette but I never realized how damn funny teh guy is. I don't know if you know about the Cornette/Joey Styles war of words but check this rant out! Dude reminds me of Bill Hicks here. Oh avoid if your a republican!

@soforizo When Christian appeared to Jack in the hospital Jack was not drunk and was in a relatively good frame of mind.

I think Locke/Smoke monster lied and never actually appeared as Christian. I think Christian is someone else entirely, who may or may not work for/with Jacob, sort of like Richard.

I posted this at EM, but decided to repost here too, since everyone is just posting here...head over to EM to respond though.

Nice review! I was hoping someone would take it upon themselves to put an article up. I'll start by saying...I called it!! :) Strangely, my unpopular theory about Christian being Smokey was right, but like you guys said, we are definitely not getting the whole picture here, and there is no way LOST would "gloss over" something as big as that. No way. I believe him saying he was Christian in the Jack episode of season 1, but it's possible the other instances were something else entirely. Although, I think my theory still holds up of Smokey being the guardian to the underworld. Him appearing to Michael before trapping him on the island holds up with this. Anyway, other theories about smokey/christian I could insert here are ones I already discussed in the last article. In any case, I have no doubt that this revelation was only a small window into all that's going on. LOST has always been about shocking us by throwing everything out at once. Answers being spread out in each episode is not their style. There is still time to answer all of it. Like you said, we are just being set up.

I was thinking of another theory, too. Smokey said he was once an ordinary man, and alluded to Jacob being one too. Is it possible he is some kind of immortal evil, but has to take on the form of others that are living? Maybe he took over the body of the guy we see him as in his original form, similar to how now he is in Locke's form. It makes sense that he would pretend to be that person and say he used to be "real", even though that wasn't truly him. Just like he started adopting some of Locke's characteristics and expressions as his own....THere has to be some force at play here, bigger than either of them in charge of keeping the balance. The island itself? That blond kid? Oh well, in any case I better see some Eko soon or I'll be all sorts of pissed!

I think we will be getting a flash back for both Jacob and MIB , they will be human, brothers, children(blond kid being a young Jacob) and see what happened to trap them on the island and make them these immortal(ish) entities. The same ep will also answer a lot of the questions and resolve a lot of the mysteries.

Della, you might be right about the spirits visiting Hurley but I doubt it. I think they really are the ghosts of the dead on the island. Also, I don't think Des was trying to kill Locke at all, he was just moving him into place, that place being the hospital...so he could meet Jack and..well, we'l see!

Dude, Un-Locke isn't Locke! Des know this, and I guarantee that if something is to be done in the sideways world to combine both realities, then it has to involve ALL of the players on the board. Des simply moved Locke into plce. It is strange that he knew hitting him with his car wouldn't kill him, but then its strange that he knows a lot of things since his episode. If he wanted him dead he would have made sure he was dead.

Ok, Des was waiting, watching Locke outside the school, hardly spur of the moment. And as for witnesses, he clearly doesn't care about any of that since he still carried out his plan after Ben saw and spoke to him. What would another role backwards of the car to finish the job have cost him? I'm tellin ya, Des knew that wouldn't kill him..he's too important. maybe the whole well incident caused him to be a bit more drastic in how he went about moving him into position..I dunno, I just know that he knew he would survive and that he would encounter Jack.

I agree, really don't think he intended to kill Locke. If he did, why not just catch him alone and shoot him in the head? I think he is trying to "wake" everyone's consciousness up. My theory, is that they will wake up if some kind of big event happens again for them that had hapened on the island. That explains why, for most of them, love would be the most power ful thing, but Des knows that for Locke, it was crashing on the island and having a miracle happen.

Della, true of course, none of us know for sure its just fun to speculate, I just really don't think, given Desmond's current mission, that he intended to kill Locke..I could be wrong.
