In an update to my prior story on Cameron revealing that an extended cut of Avatar by way of 6 additonal minutes is hitting this August. He went on to explain in more detail what the new scenes would be and revealed that the new completed scenes will cost several million dollars to finish.

Added footage includes a schoolhouse sequence with Grace including some more backstory, a new dramatic scene near the end, as well as more action and yes - more Na'vi sex.

"The sex scene in all its glory lasts an additional 12 seconds," said Cameron.

The final addition is what we thought it would indeed be - a hunting scene with a new creature Cameron talks about below.

"The Sternbeast is a creature that was basically completely taken out of the film," said Cameron. "Not because we didn't like him, we loved the Sternbeast. But when we took out the Sternbeast hunt, the other times that we saw the Sternbeast we took out as well."

After the theatrical re-release - we will be getting a four disc DVD/Blu Ray box set loaded with extra features not yet revealed. Cameron mentioned there won't be a home 3D version because he admits there isn't much of an audience for that as not everyone can afford the expensive televisions.

Cameron being mindful on the people's pockets? What?!?!?!?!

The new scenes sound awesome. That is all.

So let me get this straight, the movie has already been released, and the dvd/blu ray is coming out on earth day then their going to do it again, seems like their milking this cow to death.

@SNIZZ...
they're milking it, cutting it's udders off, selling them on ebay, cutting it's head off, painting it blue, and selling it as an Avatar cow, turning the cow into hamburger, tinting the meat with Blue Dye number 5, and marketing as Avatar Angus for 22 dollars a pound...

...so who's older?
James Cameron or George Lucas?
...cause, with this BS, Cameron seems like he was birthed directly out of Lucas' ass...

I wont be buying it until they release it in 3D - without that it's just a pretty average movie IMO.

Was Cameron playing the "how many times can you fit the word Sternbeast into one sentence" game? If so, he won.

no, this isn't him being mindful of peoples pockets. its him acknowledging that there isnt any money in it for him. so all the people who did buy 3D TVs get screwed. cause I'm gonna geuss most who have bought them did so in anticipation of this getting released.

so once again he comes off as a douche. way to jimmy
