Following the demise of most of humanity amidst a man-made ice age, the last remaining inhabitants travel the world upon a train known as the Snowpiercer. Classes develop upon the train leading to the poorest living at the rear of the train. When the lower classes choose to rebel against the elitist front passengers due to the squalid living conditions, they seek the perpetual motion engine powering Snowpiercer, which the train's inhabitants consider sacred.
