In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Peter Weller, Star Trek Into Darkness will hit theatres on May 17, 2013.

This is my most anticipated movie for the Summer! It may not be the biggest grossing, but it looks the best. Yup, better than IM3 and MOS.

As a huge Trek fan this is a movie like the last one that ignores every single thing that Star Trek is about and simply uses the name to create yet another action comedy the masses. PASS

@Ceejay See I'm also a huge fan and I love that Trek has evolved but keep elements from the original. I actually really like this series and I've been a fan of all the series's (cept for Enterprise) but I get what you mean about it not being completely true to source.

The part at 0:27 where they're flying through space looks cool. Other than that, pretty average trailer.

@TyrantBoss I hear ya, although I always wanted more action from my Trek. I always felt they fell a little short with it sometimes.

I'm probably one of the biggest Trek fans you'll ever meet, watched TOS reruns way before TNG was ever conceived, and I have no problem with this new alternate universe. I think it looks great. If I want to watch the "real" Star Trek I'll pull it up on Netflix.

The 1st one was a good light hearted sci fi actioneer. I never got into star trek but I caught an episode of the original a few month back and was surprised by its thoughtfulness, it was actually quite interesting and intelligent, my problem with Abrams version is its idea of science fiction is actually just space ships and futuristic stuff. Personally I like a bit more 'science' in my sci fi. From what little ive seen i get the impression the original actually involved some interesting science and philosophical aspects to it, something Abrams almost completely ignores.

Id say in general modern Sci Fi films should involve more science. Its the reason Im really looking forward to Nolans next effort and its the reason I fu.cking love Futurama
