Entertainment Weekly has revealed a plethora of new details about The Dark Tower, and while they're going to release a full gallery of new images tomorrow, we also have a fresh look at Matthew McConaughey in The Dixie Pig (yes, that is the symbol of the Crimson King) and a behind the scenes shot of Idris Elba as The Gunslinger alongside Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers and director Nikolaj Arcel.

Now, for those plot details. For starters, it has now been confirmed that Eddie and Susannah won't appear in this movie, but will show up down the line of this first instalment is a hit. Fan theories that this will be a sequel to the books are also correct, although it sounds like that's something just for fans of them to appreciate; this movie is definitely going to be accessible for newcomers to the franchise by telling a different story which picks and chooses certain key elements from the Stephen King novels.

Based on comments from McConaughey, the story revolves around The Man in Black and Roland Deschain both trying to track down Jake because he has psychic abilities known as the "Shine." Walter wants to use him to break the bonds of reality holding the Dark Tower together for his master The Crimson King, while Roland obviously sets out to stop that from happening by any means possible.

Further details and quotes can be found by clicking below, but The Dark Tower definitely sounds like a faithful take on the novels despite not being a direction adaptation. Expect more to be revealed soon!
