In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Just like voiceover man says in the trailer, Super 8 hits theaters June 10th.

@ TABOO13- I was just thinking that! This is looking like another M. Night Shymalan movie with every trailer I see.

So do we know what the monster is yet? Dinosaur? Alien? Rosie O'Donnell?

@Taboo Definitely not. It just appears that way because JJ Abrams keeps all of his personal projects very mysterious and secret. It's basically the same scenario as Cloverfield. The movie is Abrams' homage to Steven Spielberg's classic science fiction movies, like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The tone is very vague and suspenseful, and judging by the footage, the "creature" won't be as friendly as E.T. and the little green men with their keyboard spaceships from Close Encounters.

I keep saying it, Super 8 will be this summer's Inception. A smart, genuinely original idea written by a great writer with a Stand By Me feel thrown in.

@plasticman Please, whatever you do, never lump Shymalan in with Abrams. Abrams actually has integrity, and you know, not a disturbing obsession with a twist ending.

@TABOO13 - Probably a combination of all the alien movies that's been shown between 2010 and now. ET will be the hero.

Shamaylan? What a twist!

Looking forward to this one. Looks like it may be a sleeper hit.

is this movie gonna be something really stupid like "omg you cant see the monster unless its caught on a super 8 film reel and thats why its important for these kids to make movies and be filming" if so that is no inception and isnt a bright and wonderful or awe inspiring idea in any way.

Ah, this movie looks cool. I enjoyed Cloverfield, so I hope the monster in this is as cool.

@ aflynn- You may have hit the nail on the head. Where's Haley Joel Osment when you need him? He can see these things, can't he!? (Sorry, Illuminatus, I meant no disrespect.)

I wouldnt be surprised if thats the case, the latest trailer there was tons of carnage and action and no signs of what was causing it. Then towards the end one guy was all freaked out because he said he saw "it" and was acting like noone believed him or that he was in shock he was the only one who saw it, except the kids in the trailer who said they believed him.

You will see the monster.. He is just not revealing it in the trailers.. Like what they did for Godzilla in 97 and Cloverfield... You see the creature in the movie, not the trailers.

OK.. so there are all kinds of "spoilers".. One says that there are no monsters... Another one does..
