With Peter Jackson recently proclaiming "I'm a huge Dr Who fan, and I think Matt (Smith, who currently plays the time travelling main character) is fantastic," the Doctor himself has now stepped up to the plate and started pushing for this to happen.

Says current Doctor, Matt Smith:

"I think New Zealand would be an absolutely wonderful place to film Doctor Who. Let's get Peter Jackson to direct one and go and make it there. I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there!"

With Smith's support, and Peter Jackson having recently worked with Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat on THE ADVENTURES OF TIN TIN, a Jackson directed episode of Doctor Who is looking more and more likely.
