Elizabeth Banks To Play The Villainous 'Rita Repulsa' In Big Screen POWER RANGERS Reboot
We'd heard that Lionsgate wanted a big name star to play the villain in Dean Israelite's upcoming Power Rangers reboot, and it's now been confirmed that it will be Elizabeth Banks.
The Power Rangers reboot has so far assembled a cast of relative unknowns (RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludy Lin, Naomi Scott, and Dacre Montgomery) to play the iconic team of heroes, but The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) has signed up to play the lead villain! That will be classic baddie Rita Repulsa, "an alien witch who has designs on the planet."
Not much is known about the plot right now, but this character's involvement certainly gives us a rough idea of what we should expect and the trade mentions that the movie features the formation of, "a colorful team who must stop the world from being conquered." Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is directing from a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (Thor).
Tell us, what do you guys think of his casting addition to Power Rangers?
