Lionsgate's POWER RANGERS Reboot Gets An Official Rating

Ahead of its March 24 release date, Lionsgate's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot has received an official rating from the MPAA. Sadly, it's not Rated-R like the gritty Power/Rangers short from Adi Shankar.

The Power Rangers film has been rated PG-13. The rating was confirmed during the recent CES expo in Las Vegas [via Power Rangers Now].  Those still grasping at straws for an R-rated adaptation will just have to rewatch the dark Power/Rangers short film from Adi Shankar's Bootleg Universe.

According to Variety, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President Erik Feig was "
particularly optimistic about “Power Rangers,” which opens on March 24, noting that the first trailer generated more than 150 million views in its first 48 hours."

Lionsgate definitely appears to be on the cusp of a complete turnaround with La La Land poised to sweep Awards Season and
Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge also earning high praise.  They could certainly use a win after the year which saw The Divergent franchise implode and Gods of Egypt bomb at the box office.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

 Dean Israelite
WRITER(s): John Gatins, Kieran Mulroney, Michele Mulroney, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless

I'd watch that stupid Vin Diesel movie if the rating was the same as the title.

This is going to be worse than Thor 3 and Justice League combined.

@blackandyellow - You're not hyped for Thor? Marvel is throwing everything in there it seems, Hulk AND Doctor Strange.

It's not a Power Rangers movie without Tommy. He's the best original Power Ranger.
