BOOM! Studios, under license by Hasbro, Inc. and in partnership with IDW and Nickelodeon, have announced today that the legendary
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will soon be crossing over with the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in an all-new five-issue limited series crossover event, with the first issue debuting in December 2019.
The miniseries will be written by Ryan Parrot (
Power Rangers: Necessary Evil) and illustrated by Simone di Meo (
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers).
The synopsis reads, "
The Power Rangers arrive in New York City to find Tommy Oliver – AKA The Mighty Morphin Green Ranger – but soon discover he’s joined forces with the villainous Shredder and the Foot Clan! As the Rangers are sent reeling by this betrayal, they’re confronted by another (fr)enemy – the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Can these heroes find a way to work together to defeat the bad guys and save the world from total destruction?!"
While the Heroes in a Half-Shell did previously appear in an episode of
Power Rangers in Space back in 1998, this will be their first meeting with the iconic Mighty Morphin team, which should be plenty exciting for all involved.
In addition to the announcement, BOOM! has also shared Dan Mora's (
Buffy the Vampire Slayer) cover for
MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1 (OF 5). The first issue will also feature Turtle Ranger Helmet variant covers by Goñi Montes (
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and a few surprises.
