Henry South a visual FX designer for the ucoming prequel to popular Sci-Fi franchise Alien has announced on his twitter page that production has officially begun:

Started work on alien prequel today!! Absolutely stunning. Worth waiting till late 2011 for peeps! - Henry South via Twitter.

Ridley Scott who helmed the original Alien, but was beat by James Cameron to direct the movies sequel, will return as director for the upcoming prequel.

With the search for a lead lady full steam ahead, some casting announcements should come our way soon. For the prequel a new leading lady will be brought in after a decision to scrap the orignal star of the series Ripley played by Sci-Fi queen Sigourney Weaver. The list for leading ladies includes Noomi Rapace ,Carey Mulligan, Abbie Cornish, Natalie Portman and Olivia Wilde. Apparently Rapace is Scott's personal favorite.

So with no official release date the only thing we know is a 2011 release date is in the cards.

Ridley's directing? Hmmm. Can't they go back in time and get the young Ridley to direct it? He was awesome. Recent Ridley is shite. Did you see Robin Hood? Shite. What is he playing at...?

@Erickz
I just imagined how that sounds to people who don't know the plot.

@ bleedthefreak

this is great news,can't wait.

they always put shit into these films that can be classed as "gay sex".

i.e john hurt & the face hugger,puts it penis into kane's mouth & inpregnates him.

I don't want to be "that guy", but this movie is going to be stupid.

What I don't like about the plot of this film is not the forced gay sex, but the fact that it is set in the future(presumably) and it details the creation of the Xenomorphs, but weren't the Xenomorph's around in the past, fighting Predators?

@ Duke, I think you have them by the balls there! Plot holes a plenty anyone? And didn't the Predator's create the Xenomorphs as a hunting/training tool, or right of passage or something. Or did Preds acually steel the Xenomorphs from these other alien creatures? Many questions this does raise.

Production = filming. It seems to be in full-on pre-production, which is when the design work takes place.

this better not be PG-13 like the rumors say.

Alien 5! Post-Earth War, Aliens on Earth. Totally. The crew of the Betty were cool. That would've been much better.

Hopefully it will not be a heavy cgi film. The original practical props made the old movies look so much better!

@herofreak
Aliens mate by killing you. They're kinky.
Alien/Predator hybrid = brand new franchise. Fox couldn't pass that up, surely.

Noomi Rapace all the way! Now they should just get guys like Idris Elba, Stephen Lang, Mads Mikkelsen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, Paul Bettany, Chris Pine, Thomas Kretschmann, Kevin Durand with Natalie Portman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And the movie is going to be [frick]ing great!

BillyBlack@ I bet The Thing.

I second what CorndogBurglar, Number21 and AlexDeLarge said.

@BillyBlack

Don't be so negative, man ...wait, there's really gonna be a The Thing prequel? Oh, damn... But the new Alien movie might still be cool, right? RIGHT?!
