Ryan Gosling to Run as Logan 5

Ryan Gosling to Run as Logan 5

One project that seems to have been in development forever is the remake of 1976's Logan's Run, but now Deadline is reporting that actor Ryan Gosling could be suiting up as Sandman Logan 5 and pick up the search for Sanctuary as the film goes forward under the directorial hand of Nicolas Winding Refn.

Notes Deadline, "Studios all over town have been offering roles to Gosling, who is eager to reunite with the director he just worked with on Drive, in which Gosling plays a stunt driver who moonlights as a heist wheel man.... In Logan's Run, Gosling will play Logan 5, a 'Sandman' whose job it was to put to permanent sleep those who try to escape mandatory death, the downside of the blissful existence in the domed city that protects the inhabitants who survived a 23rd Century apocalypse. In the William F. Nolan novel, the age of extinction was 21, but it was changed in the original film to match up with original star Michael York. That age works great for Gosling, who just turned 30. But the question is whether Gosling wants to go the commercial route."

to my mind this is the rare movie that is VERY ready for a fresh take on it. (well, fresh film take on the novel, technically) But I meant, as much as I grew up a fan of the Michael York feature, seeing a new version that's smart and expansive and NOT filmed in a mall would be excellent. and Gosling is an incredibly solid choice. 'fingers crossed this comes together.

Ha...Ryan Gosling. lol. I saw some funny youtube video of him singing in the Mickey Mouse club or something when he was a kid. I think he was trying to be like a Backstreet Boy. I bet he keeps a tu-tu in his closet for sure. He was okay in that movie with Anthony Hopkins though.
