With J.J. Abrams helming Star Wars Episode VII for Walt Disney Pictures, it is still unknown if he will return for the third film of the other big sci-fi franchise. But before he starts working on the new Star Wars film, he still has to promote Star Trek Into Darkness, which hits theatres in a couple of months. Talking to Absolute Radio, Simon Pegg was asked about what he thinks of Abrams directing both Star Trek and Star Wars. Check out the video below:

At the end of the video, Pegg says that Abrams will direct Star Trek 3, but if you look closely, you can see he was joking. But, with some sites reporting this, Pegg posted this on his official Twitter account:

Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood and Peter Weller, Star Trek Into Darkness will hit theatres on May 17, 2013.

I actually feel like some of the Star Trek cast are going to end up showing up in the new Star Wars.

I'm a mega Star Wars fan, but I honestly don't see myself getting my panties all in a wad until I see the direction the series is going. But nonetheless, Simon Pegg is such a cool guy

Let's be hopeful no one from Trek ends up in Star Wars.

I feel his frustration. Some of the best movie experiences are the ones you go in knowing next to nothing about. I could spend all my time trying to figure out what'll happen in the new movie, but then I would cheat myself out of the two hours I'd been waiting for.

Well, Pegg has already done a voice in Clone Wars and, if we're to trust George Lucas, Clone Wars is cannon so, technically, he's already part of both universes. -Just saying...
