In the near future, a hostile alien race have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham, all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin, a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distiguising himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he's trained by Mazer Rackham, himself, to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Ender's Game stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis. The film is set to hit theaters November 1st.

I love all the negative comments from people about this movie. I'm sure most of them are from people who've never read the book. If you have read the book then this movie should be a real treat. Ender's Game is my favorite sci-fi book of all time. It is awesome.

Looks great visually so far. I may see it in theaters depending on how good it looks from the full trailer.

@ JettJagguarrr - Really the Last Starfighter? Wow, yeah I saw that one when I was a kid. Hate to tell you this but that movie and Ender's game have one thing in common. Flying ships in outer space. As for the Last Starfighter being before Ender's Game, sure the movie came out in '84 before the book came out in '85. Of course the book Ender's Game is an expansion of the novella Ender's Game written in '77. So in fact, OSC's Ender's Game came first.

Maybe boycotting this movie won't affect Orson.
But if I pay to see this movie I'll be going against my morals and somebody who has disrespected me.

I don't mind you guys seeing it, great, go forth and be happy. Maybe his views aren't in the film itself but i wouldn't necessarily see a movies written by a know paedophile either.

@CherryBomb, wow did you just compare watching a movie based on a book written by someone who's against gay marriage to watching a movie written by a pedophile? Because you know that's the same. Hope you don't eat Chick-fil-A.

The last Starfighter came out in 1984, Enders Game first appeared in Short Story form in 1977, and was then padded out into a novel to be published in 1985.

I don't know if the popularity of The Last Starfighter led Orson to convert the short story into a novel, but it seems unlikely seeing as The Last Starfighter is a lighthearted romp, and Enders Game is pretty dark and political.

Ender's Game the novel was only written when OSC was attempting to write the novel Speaker for the Dead when he realized that in order to make Speaker work as a novel, he needed the main character to be Ender Wiggin. As such he convinced TOR books to allow him to go and write a prequel to Speaker first where he fleshed out his earlier novella Ender's Game in to a full length novel.

@spectre Orson suggested all gay people were gay because their mothers were raped or subjected to a sordid relationship. So if you think what I said was bad, have a read at what he's been saying.
