Chris Pine Talks Star Trek 2, Says Kirk Will Have A Love Interest

The actor, who plays James T Kirk in JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot, has spoken briefly about the highly anticipated sequel..

Chris Pine has taken to his Facebook page to give Star Trek fans a brief update on the progress with the sequel..

“After a thousand questions regarding the Star Trek sequel I can finally say I am holding the draft script in my hand. I can also now tell you I have a love interest and it’s all looking very exciting. Sorry but I cant give you a date for filming yet, but you guys are going to love it!”

So at least we know Kirk gets some action then. This of course suggests that this love interest will play a substantial part in the movie's plot, and not be just another fling like the last movie's hot green chick! Aside from this, we know next to nothing about the plot. Only that Khan will not be the villain but it will be a character from the original series and he or she won’t be a “traditional” villain..

No shoot date as of yet. Via Collider

Kirk had a love interest on every planet in the galaxy.
Then at the end of the ep she'd die, get dumped, leave, or be needed somewhere.
Then in the next ep he'd be on to the next lol.

Captain Kirk is the greatest playa in the universe.

awsome, cant wait, hope they make several more in the new timeline, it would be cool for them to throw in characters that were major players in the original movies but might just be supporting characters now, would be cool imo

For all the Kirk/ Spock porn I've been bombarded with lately, it wouldn't shock me in the least if it were a gay love interest.

I won't be wasting anymore time on this movie after the let-down I got from 2009's alternate universe Trek. Simon Pegg's Scotty was the only highlight.

JJ sucks.

JonnyNemo: As a lifelong Trek fan I find it hard to comprehend how someone could possibly have expected someone to come in and replace all those legendary actors with new ones AND re imagine their timeline so that new story's could be told and have them do a better job than what was done. I thought it was fantastic.

Edith Keeler anyone? I mean, seriously, it's Star Trek so they'll be time traveling anyway, right?

Grew up watching the old Star Trek on TV, never really cared for the Next Generation or subsequent spin offs. Of the movies, I loved Wrath of Khan and Star Trek IV. The reboot absolutely blew me away!! It renewed my interest in the Star Trek universe. Went into the theatre not expecting much and then walked out completely in awe! So yeah, really anticipating the sequel!

If you call one sex scene a "love interest" then yes. Which it isn't. But whatever floats your boat.

@RorMachine a majority of Kirk's conquests in the series were considered love-interests and didn't last long..unless they make this one is wife material it's not really important to the film's story

Wait, why are sites reporting this as legitimate news? Chris Pine doesn't have a Facebook page. He hates using the internet. This is fake.

Star Trek was awesome. So awesome, that hearing about the tired movie rule of a "love interest" sounds super disappointing. Kirk sampled many women. He was like James Bond. They're going to waste Chris Pine's incredible Kirk performance on some love interest shit? *sigh* I pray that this aspect doesn't ruin the movie as a whole. I was really looking forward to a sequel.
