This week saw the reveal that Disneyland's Star Wars themed area, Galaxy's Edge, would open to the public in Summer 2019, and now it's being reported that Universal may well be including a Star Trek land in their long-rumored 4th park in Orlando, Florida.

Sources close to DisneyAndMe have confirmed recent comments made by Lance Hart from Screamscape, who spoke last month about a new Star Trek show that would be coming to Universal and they also made mention of a Star Trek area.

"Lance is correct that a live stage show is getting shuffled between the Bourne Identity or Star Trek, and a Star Trek sci-fi area is being highly consideed to hit back WDW DHS Star Wars land. If Universal does a Star Trek sci-fi area it will be very sci-fi city-like and not too alien planet like most would think. And with an anchor attraction. And maybe something very similar to the recently announced Transformers area that's going to be in Universal Beijing"

This "non-planet" area with an "anchored attraction" doesn't sound too dissimilar to the planned Landmark Entertainment designed USS Enterprise that was going to exist in Las Vegas a few years ago. Whether Universal's plans are anything to that cost or scale remains to be seen but with the franchise back on its feet in both film and television, now might be the time to fork out the money.

This isn't the first time that Universal has gone in on a Star Trek attraction, as the studio had a live-action stage show called Star Trek Adventures back in the late 1980's and the beloved Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton that ran from 1998 to 2008, which sorely missed by fans who have been clamouring for something similar since. Maybe this is it.

What do you think? Would you like a Star Trek area at Universal? What would you like it to be like? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
