Things I did not like about the movie.

1. The design of the enterprise on the out side. I figured it would look close to the TOS Ship.
2. Spock losing his mother since she was in a few of the TOS episodes.
3. Loss of Spock's Planet
4. TOS Spock wondering around at the end after the rouge romulans are destroyed and then meeting up with him self.
5. The romulans look to different from the TOS and TNG series.
6. After destroying the rouge romulans the time frame does not get set back to where Spock planet and Mother are still alive.
7. Then the whole thing with Spock and Uhura seemed out of place, it would have been more believable if it was Nurse Chapel, and Spock.
8. They made Kirk out to be smarter than in the TOS series.

Things I did like.

1. How they keep some of the original sounds from the bridge, and transporters.
2. I like the new actors, and how they were very similar to the original crew.
3. The story line was good to.
4. They action was good
5. The special effects were good.
6. I like also how they are now able to create different spices of humanoids and make them look real, unlike TOS, where they just used some makeup.

All in all it was a good movie, and I was happy to see it in the theater first, and when it comes to DVD or Blue Ray I will purchase it to.

Things I did not like about your review.

1. If the ship looked very similar to the TOS ship it would have looked like a cheap toy flying around space. The design does not hold up well to time. The TNG design holds up better, though they updated that too. I would chalk up the differences to the alternate timeline, or the fact that it is a freaking movie!

2/3. This story is more interesting. You cannot have character development without conflict. The original timeline may have been interesting as books, but in a movie it would not.

4. I don't think Spock was wondering anything, only WANDERING. And I didn't see those ROGUE Romulans wearing any rouge in the movie. Do Romulans wear makeup?

5. This was actually explained, but COME ON!!! You liked how they created different species well, but not how they did the Romulans. Would you prefer them to look like people walking around with bad facial prosthetics?

6. If the timeline was set back, then that would be a big F U to the people watching. If there attempt is to gain more viewers, then that would be a stupid move. It was a significant departure from the original storyline, but one that is interesting to put into movies. I just hope they don't try to redo some of the better characters like Khan.

7. No one outside of Trekkies (I use Trekkies because it is more derogative) knows who Nurse Chapel is. I don't know who that is. The whole point was building the characters and their relationships. Throwing a random person into the mix would be confusing. This sets up for an eventual break up between Spock and Uhura as Spock grows up. He is still basically a child in this movie.

8. Kirk was an idiot in TOS because he was played by William Shatner. I actually liked Shatner in most of the movies, but he was not very good in the TV show. Again, chalk this up to trying to make an interesting character.

I think the thing to take away from this is, if there is something that happened in the movie that doesn't make sense, chalk it up to the alternate timeline. Or wizards did it. Or spend your free time doing something else.
