Following a Comic-Con panel in Hall H yesterday evening, the first teaser has been released for Picard season 3, and we're getting some major Star Trek: The Next Generation vibes.

Why? Well, we get to see a lot of familiar faces!

Filmed back to back with season 2, the show returns next year, and we now know that it will include LeVar Burton's Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn's Worf, Jonathan Frakes' William Riker, Gates McFadden's Dr. Beverly Crusher, Marina Sirtis' Deanna Troi, Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine, and Michelle Hurd's Raffi alongside Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard.

It's also been confirmed that Brent Spiner, who played Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation, is set to return as "an old new character."

"We didn’t want to have cameos, but serious roles," producer Alex Kurtzman told fans in attendance. "At the beginning of the season, the crew is in different places around the galaxy. Slowly we see them come together. Patrick said, 'I want to do this show, I don’t want to repeat old things.'"

Stewart would later chime in to say, "I realized that I was beginning to experience Jean-Luc Picard, to a point where I didn’t know where he began and Patrick Stewart left off. I was sold because the emphasis was on, ‘Who is Picard?’ Because we don’t know."

"As far as season 3 is concerned," the legendary actor continued, "he’s having to acknowledge that there was an incident in his youth that had shaken him so profoundly."

This is looking pretty damn great, and as sad as we'll be to say goodbye to the show, those final episodes really can't get here soon enough. The trailer features dialogue from each returning hero, culminating in a message from Picard himself: "As long as you and your crew remain steadfast...you are never without hope."

This show had so much potential and is a complete disappointment. Strange New Worlds is where Star Trek should be spending their money right now.

@MrDandy - Strange New Worlds is fantastic!

I liked season 1 of Picard, but season 2 sucked. But I always hated Star Trek stories that take place in the past. I don't watch Star Trek to see current day Earth. And that's where the vast majority of season 2 took place.

I hate when they end shows in their third seasons.
There's a sweet spot of 4 seasons for me (or my OCD), so close to 4.

@Blergh - not when you have utter trash like Picard lol

Thank God they didn't "update" Worf to look like the Discovery Klingons.

@FinnishDude - Comparing those Klingons to some of the first ones from the original series, boy has that race become unrecognizable. I know there is an in-universe explanation to at least some of the changes, but still. Kind of funny when looking side by side.

@FinnishDude - I always thought that the Klingons in the movies(the ones from a few years ago) should’ve been bigger than humans, like 8 feet tall.

@FinnishDude - It wouldn't have been an update but a retro-grade. Those klingons existed before TOS episodes in the timeline. But I don't think anyone liked their look.

only for suckers.

nothing will get me to watch another season of this show.

not to mention they are bringing these folks back but you also have to deal with the new loser cast too.

@grif - im one of those suckers. I admit it. I watched both seasons of Picard and then I complained for a month. And I’ll end up watching the 3rd season. BUT this one is gonna be awesome!! Right?

Hope it's at least marginally better than the last season, which turned into a complete mess as it went on.

Picard has been so bad. So so bad. It pains me to say this but it’s been like a big sloppy shit.
But I am a Star Trek whore and I’ll end up watching the third season. The fact that Warf is in it has me ……. Motivated to watch the third season. And there better be an amazing villain!!!

Strange New Worlds is sooo good, that I'll finish this shit series willingly. Sure they'll diminish they immense integrity that TNG has, but at this point I can't trust SNW so much. Let me suffer lol

Picard S1 & 2 was as bad as Discovery but ill watch this to catch up with the original TNG crew. I expect nothing. They should have brought back Data's Brother 'Lore' to fill in the gap.

So Picard is finally reuniting with his old crew...except this isn't Jean Luc Picard. This is a robot duplicate of Picard. Picard died at the end of season 1.

So then there's that.

@TyrantBossMedia - Which was stupid as all hell. I mean...why would you want your soul put back into an old ass body. Picard have been the worst `! I am only watching season 3 for the original cast.
TyrantBossMedia
TyrantBossMedia - 7/24/2022, 9:42 PM
@blitzkreg - Agreed. And with a normal lifespan.

Just ridiculous. The show has been terrible.
elgaz
elgaz - 7/25/2022, 9:56 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - It was a very poorly crafted plot device to introduce some tension in the finale and try and convince the audience there was a very real chance of Picard 'dying'. So we've ended up with a robot Picard who still talks, moves and has the apparent energy of his original 96yr old human version. They should have left this one on the writer's table.

Dredd97 - 7/24/2022, 11:44 PM
Goddammit, Worf is gonna get me back in this show. The last 2 seasons were so stupid and convoluted for no reason. Picard doesn't feel like himself at all, so it'll be interesting to see them throw these characters back in with him again. And poor Beverly Crusher, always the bridesmaid

They did Will Wheaton dirty...

They should have left "Raffie" (Ralfie?) in the 21st Century Gutter where she belongs. Hate the character, and now she's going to eat up valuable screen time is Season 3. She doesn't fit this final mission with the legacy characters. Doesn't need to be there.
