Zoe Saldana spills some beans about Star Trek 2, the sequel to the 2009 smash hit!

Guess what Trekkies? We have news pertaining to the sequel to the recently revamped Star Trek franchise. Zoe Saldana, who played as Uhura in the 2009 Star Trek movie (and Avatar as Neytiri), revealed that J.J. Abrams is currently pooping out a plot and script for his next Trek.









Saldana told MTV:

"I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we'll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year."















So what does this mean? Well, nerds and fans alike could possibly see this movie around Christmas time in 2011, or as a summer smash hit in 2012. Looks like 2010 might be a busy year for Abrams, as he launches the Star Trek 2 project.

Star Trek was the 3rd best movie of the year, and I never liked the franchise before that.

Besides, the fact that we'll be getting more Zoe Saldana is reason enough to see the sequel :)

Yes, the more Zoe we have...the better. :-) It will be fun to see the crew go out and do what they are actually supposed to do in exploring space and other planets now that we have the origin of the crew taken care of. More worlds, creatures, encounters and Zoe and I will be happy.

I agree Tyler@, Star Trek no. 3 of the best of
the year.

Zoe Saldana, dare I say it, is even more sexy than the
original Uhura and that is saying a lot for me 'cause
I am a Star Trek fan and would never want to disrespect
the original!

JJ has brought Trek into the 21st Century without
crapping on the original and has started a new and
exciting chapter in a franchise that looked DOA.

These movies have an amazing sense of adventure and
all out balls to the wall action!

Trekkies is the correct term for die hard Trek fans,
however newer die hard fans found this term to be a bit nerdy and even insulting ya right!
you will find fans that are proud to be called Trekkies and in fact hate the term Trekkers... they refer Trekkers as Trekkie wannabes... LOL

yeah, i watched that movie "Trekkies" not too long ago, and they explain pretty much what you just said. some people don't mind being called "trekkies" but there are also a group of star trek fans that are insulted by that term, and go by "trekkers". i think its funny, personally. can't trek fans just get along??

I thought the first movie was great!..I use to
watch star trek the next generation, and star trek voyager (I LOVE 7 of NINE)..but anyway, I don't consider
myself a trekkie..but i use to be a fan..I can't wait
for star trek 2!

i was always a star wars guy and not a trekker. the most exposure i had to the show was when i was little and wanted to watch the simpsons at 9 and 930, trek that started at 8 would be just ending and i always caught the last 2 minutes and never cared. but this movie was awesome! it still hasn't made me a fan of the tv show but i hope this new film franchise goes on for a long long time! so much history to grab from, so many possibilties. this movie was hands down great on all fronts.
