Following last week's logo reveal, CBS All Access has debuted the first official teaser promo for Star Trek: Picard.

The footage begins with the now retired Admiral (Patrick Stewart) working in his vineyard while an unknown character narrates. It seems Picard left Starfleet after a mysterious incident 15 years earlier, but will seemingly return to help The Federation when called upon.

Check out the promo below along with a poster and let us know what you think.

Star Trek Into Darkness writer Alex Kurtzman is on board as showrunner, while Hanelle Culpepper (Star Trek: Discovery) will direct the pilot and second episode.

The plot of the series is still under wraps. In fact, all we know for certain is that the story will revolve around the aging Picard coming out of retirement to offer his expertise to Starfleet after the destruction of the planet Romulus, which occurred in the 2009 Star Trek reboot.

Star Trek: Picard doesn't have a premiere date just yet.

CBS going all-in on Star Trek.

The first Star Trek stuff I ever realllllly got into besides the recent films was Discovery, and I really like it. Not a Trekkie at all.

This show just looks like an interesting tv show on its own, even when not considering all the TREK stuff. I'm in.

@BlackBeltJones - i like how it seems they're using the plot of the reboot here. Getting that full circle and showing how all that is effecting the world in the original timeline.

For some reason I am intrigued by this, even though I am not a ST fan (seen the last 3 films and 2-3 from the older ones, but never really got into it).

But, man... Patrick Stewart is awesome and I feel some sort of nostalgia lol

So this is Kelvin timeline Picard?

@Kevwebsz - Romulus was destroyed in the future. Picard would be long dead by the time it happened so I fail to see how he could help.

@KingCipher -

The 2395 events of the STTNG finale were in an alternate future
since the Enterprise D was destroyed by the Klingons right after the series ended during ST: Generations. But that 2095 date does show that Picard could live that long past his prime years and still be mobile.

@KingCipher -

I was an alternative Universe because the 2395 Enterprise that
Admiral Riker was commanding was the same Galaxy class Enterprise D from the series that had been upgraded,and not the Sovereign Class Enterprise E that became Picard's ship before
Star Trek First Contact.

That future Enterprise D was from the future of TNG before Q
started messing with the timeline to mess with Picard in three
different times of his life.

When the Picard of "the present" in 2371 and the Picard from 2364 teamed up with old Picard to solve Q's anti time problem
by thinking non liner, they saved humanity and created a new
timeline where Enterprise D would be destroyed only weeks later.

But I do agree with your point that the existence of Picard in
2395 as a somewhat doddering old man is evidence that he would
be capable of surviving to 2399 in another timeline.

Should’ve gone with “Hee-Haw: The Next Generation” instead:

Patrick Stewart possesses so much cred that I can forgive Nemesis and X-Men 3 and watch him do nothing but talk for the entire run of this series.

This show fills me both with extreme excitement and serious dread. Stewart back as Picard in a fresh ST format sounds amazing, but I'm not sure I could handle it too well if I ended up disliking the show.

@Forthas - So funny because I was just thinking all those commands he gave the computer: "dim lights 20%, play some music, no play salsa, etc." can all be done today with Google Home, Siri, and Alexa!

I would kind of love it if this ended up being a show predominantly about wine making.

@Reeds2Much -

Would make an awesome way to fold the JJ verse Trek back into the prime timeline by having Q and Picard interact with the JJ crew to
set the universe straight.
