Zachary Quinto Shifting In To Prep Mode For Star Trek 2

Zachary Quinto recently sat down for an interview in which he talked about Star Trek and said he is getting ready to start preparations for the second movie, but reveals he or none of his castmates has seen the script.

The Orlando Sentinel recently caught up with actor Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in J.J. Abrams reboot of Star Trek, to talk on a wide range of topics. Not surprisingly Star Trek came up, more specifically the sequel that is being planned for it. Quinto said that he is "starting to shift into that mode of preparation", also revealing that he nor his cast mates have seen the script.

Said Quinto:

“I have physical training and other ways of prepping for it. None of us have seen the script. We’re all very curious to see where [director J.J. Abrams is] taking us this time,” he shared. “We’re going on rumors, little hints here and there, stories we’ve been told.”

Filming for Star Trek 2 is, as of right now, scheduled to begin in early 2012. With the shoot rapidly approaching Mr. Abrams might want to start getting scrips to actors so they can be ready.

I wish the villain in the next movie was Khan.. Would be an great throw back to the original series and Star Trek:The wrath of Khan. Its just hard to cast someone in this role.

I hate this guy, totally missed the mark on the role, and he EVEN HAD THE REAL SPOCK as a reference... Word of advice JJ, next time you are casting, make sure the guy playing Spock can give the live long and prosper salute with his fingers at the very least, and I might forgive you for the terrible acting...

Please no Khan, it was done so well the first time, lets not cash in on its appeal and tarnish its legacy. Plus I doubt they will get someone as good as Ricardo Montalban. Let the film be about the Klingons and Kor, the Dahar Master.

I'm not totally opposed to them bringing back Khan and here's why. If this is a rebooted universe with an alternate timeline then it is quite possible that this new version of the crew could also run into Khan. While a remake of The Wrath of Khan would not make sense seeing as how this new crew has not yet encountered him (as the original did in the original series which set up the movie), the character could still make for a great enemy, just with a different story. A few of my friends were talking about it and if you were to do Khan a perfect choice for him would be Nestor Carbonell. He is a great actor, has gravitas and resembles Khan. These were the ideas when they recast Kirk, Spock, Bones, etc.

For those of you that don't know who he is, he plays the Mayor of Gotham in Nolan's Bat-verse. Here is his IMDb:

If they HAVE to have Khan in the new universe, then either Javier Bardem or Nestor Carbonell.

Nester and J.J. already have a working relationship from LOST, so there's that....

I thought Quinto was terrific in the role, and the movie itself was great. But Abrams should really get in gear. He needs to get the script finished and sent to the cast. Also, I'm sure all the fans would enjoy some solid information on the sequel. Can anybody say plot details, or even new castmembers? They better start getting stuff done soon, because not only is the Hollywood crowd anxious, but so is the fanboy crowd. I'M READY FOR THE EPIC-NESS THAT WILL *HOPEFULLY* BE 'STAR TREK 2'!!! :D

@Arminies...I agree.

Plus, Qunito's voice is SO WRONG for Spock. Too metro-sexual or something. I never thought I cared what Spock's voice was....but Qunito's is just the opposite of what it should be.

He gave a good performance, not great but it wasn't shit. Chris Pine did a fantastic job as the arrogant, egotistical Kirk with daddy issues.

Hell no to Khan. Bring on the Klingons or flesh out the Andorians a little more just like what Enterprise was doing. Hell, even inroduce Q, but no Khan.

Richard Alpert from Lost as Khan!!! Make it happen J.J.

I would Like a young Khan though, It would be cool to see Kirk banish him, Which would lead to The Wrath of Khan!

The movie wasn't bad, but my whole thing they should of jumped off from the main time line. Something after Voyager would of been nice not going backwards. Thats the problem with franchise when they are rebooted. Why can't u just bring some new freshness to the main timeline. All of those books & we reboot. Same problem with Star Wars Lucas using the same old tire characters over & over again!

Khan was there before the timeline split. There is no reason he would look different.

Besides, they need to create new stories instead of treadig old ground. Spock Prime from experience would know to blow the SS Botany Bay to smithereens, and how to handle V'Ger. How do you get around that without resorting to cheap storytelling?

Please god no more Khan. Nor do I ever want to see the damn Borgs in these NEW REBOOTED films.

No more retreading please, just bring new/freshness to this franchise. If they bring back Khan it will show just uncreative Hollywood is with two of my fav franchises- Superman and Star Trek...bringing back Zod and Khan for these new films is just extremely lazy and pathetic writing.

Just no Khan or Borgs and I'm all good.

I always think of the movie "Enemy Mine" for a good looking alien planet.

Next villain should be one of the many butthead alien races. That or a ship full of green women. Just no more emo Spock. He needs to be toned down.
