Zoe Saldana Models Her Redesigned 'Uhura' Uniform For STAR TREK BEYOND
The Guardians of the Galaxy actress took to Instagram to show off her new Uhura duds, which will pay homage to Nichelle Nichols' take on the character in the original 1960s series. Take a look...
At first glance Saldana's garb won't seem a whole lot different to what she wore as Uhura in the last 2 Star Trek flicks, but fans of the original series will surely note that she's now sporting sleeves for the first time, just as Nichelle Nichols did back in the day.
No extra material has been added to the lower part of the uniform, however, as Saldana noted during an interview with Yahoo! on the Vancouver set of Star Trek Beyond last Summer.
“I do have my stripes, just like each and every crew member on the ship. I’m very happy about that. It’s still short. I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ But you know what. I just had twins and the fact that I’m able to wear this little dress seven months later, I’m grateful!”
Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22.
