Adam Driver And Mark Hamill On STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Adam Driver and Mark Hamill on the joy and pressure of making a new Star Wars chapter for a new generation. Hamill, set to return as Luke Skywalker, says, "Oh my God, this time I’m going to appreciate it in a way I wasn’t able to as a young man."

We still don't know who Adam Driver (Girls) is playing in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens,  but Driver is excited to be part of the Star Wars franchise.  For the up-and-coming actor, the original Star Wars trilogy is what he identifies with most however, it's not lightsaber battles or tie fighter dog fights that he' recalls the fondest.  "I always think back to the original movies and to those quieter moments where Luke is out in A New Hope, and there are the two suns setting," said Driver.  He continued, " It is the equivalent, basically, of a farm boy dying to get out of his small town and do something bigger. It’s those kinds of universal themes that ground this whole thing in space.”

While Driver is new to the Star Wars franchise, Mark Hamill has been part of the lore for 37 years. At this stage in his career, Hamill has a different appreciation for the role that propelled him to stardom.  " I don’t know that I’m even completely recovered from my state of shock [on getting the call on the new trilogy].  Part of the experience of [Star Wars] in my life was coming down from that, putting it behind me. We had a beginning, a middle, and an end. And I certainly, in a million years, never expected to return. I thought, ‘Even if they do more trilogies, my story is over.’  It’s kind of like Scrooge on Christmas morning.  ‘Oh my God, this time I’m going to appreciate it in a way I wasn’t able to as a young man.’ ”

Star Wars Episode VII arrives in US theaters on December 18, 2015.  Who do you think Driver is playing in the film?  Is Luke part of the darkside now like his father, Spoiler:[ Darth Vader]? Sound off below with your theories and expectations for the film!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. The film is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk, and John Williams returns as the composer.

Re-watched some interviews where Mark talked about Batman and did the Joker voice. Never realized how that dude changed my life.

God among men that one.

I would be pretty upset if Luke just flipped like that, metaphorical kick in the nuts of the original trilogy. I like the idea of Hans son was jealous of Luke and then Luke whoops that a$$ and disfigures him and he becomes full Sith

On the Colbert Report's final episode, JJ Abrahms was in a theater sitting in front of the traditional Star Wars scroll. Now was it from previous movies or was it a preview of the new movie? Internet, you're on it...

I think that's was one of the problems in the prequels. There were hardly any quiet moments like the Binary Sunset. Beautiful scene though. John Williams pretty much made Star Wars what it is.
