Chewbacca Star Joonas Suotamo And A Legion Of STAR WARS Fans Want To #MakeSolo2Happen

A year after Solo: A Star Wars Story debuted in theaters, fans have gone out of their way to campaign for a sequel, including star Joonas Suotamo . . .

While the Star Wars fanbase has evolved into a divisive one, those who do love the lastest slew of films have been very passionate and outspoken regarding their fandom. When it comes to Solo: A Star Wars Story, things stand no differently.

Earlier this week Solo: A Star Wars Story marked a year since it's release. The box office performance for the film was less than ideal, likely due to the film's ferocious competition (Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2.) In fact, they were so fierce that the film ended up losing money for Disney by the end of it's theatrical run, which threw away any possibilities of a direct cinematic sequel.

But this has not stopped fans and a member of the film's cast from asking for a sequel.

When Solo marked it's anniversary fans took to Twitter to get #MakeSolo2Happen trending, something that ultimately worked and provided an unexpected outpouring of love for the spinoff. Later on Joonas Suotamo, who has played Chewbacca since The Force Awakens, took to Twitter to express the same thoughts. Check it out:

Do you think we'll see Alden Ehrenreich's portrayal of the character in live-action again?

@Forthas - while disney's main saga sucks, their spin offs and shows are good, havent seen Resistance

@Forthas - I have to respectfully disagree. It focused so much of trying to score nostalgia points it missed a chance to tell an interesting (granted a story no one wanted)

Personally, it also damages the character from a new hope as an audience we’re not sure if Han is all talk, is he merely lucky knowing less on this occasion is more.

Lastly I think it is actually an OK movie, it is a 5/10 not a critical panning, but not worth a sequel.

I didn't mind Solo. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Well, the movie lost money so it won't happen. They should have done Boba Fett. Solo should have been a video game.

The Maul and Rebel stuff should have been removed from the movie.

I quite enjoy Solo but there were things I didn't like about the movie like how he got his last name and Darth Maul showing up at the end felt like he was shoehorned in the movie, If Boba Fett showed up in the movie rather than Maul It would fit better because of the crimininal underworld setting. To be honest if its a Star Wars movie or any CBM I would watch it in a heartbeat.
So...

while i'm not deneying the fact that being released beside Infinity War and Deadpool 2 didn't help the film let us not forget the film was released only a few months AFTER The Last Jedi and had very little to no marketing

You want at least one franchise to feel like it’s classic roots. No filmmaker had captured the Lucas DNA better than Howard wit Solo.

Star Wars is the one franchise you shouldn’t try to modernize to appeal to new generations. It needs to remain stead fast almsotcot the point of being niche.

I had a lot of fun with solo, it was a really fun film. I'm behind this, but the chances it will happen are 0. Lucasfilm aint tryna get behind that Box office L they took for a second time. I'll be one of the supporters of Solo forever. Loved that film a lot, was a nice breather from last jedi, did not like that one at all.

Solo Sucked. I think I would say from best to worse.

1.Star Wars:The Force Awakens
2.Rogue One
3.Star Wars:The Last Jedi
4.Solo

Loved solo best of the new films because it actually felt like a star wars film. Unlike the other crap, that's a yes please to Solo 2

I am behind this! I liked the film quite a bit, even though I thought the idea was lame and unnecessary leading up to it. I was pleasantly surprised, and ended up watching it again in theater. And again on Netflix accidentally (put it on while doing other stuff, but ended up ONLY watching cuz it drew me in). Being released so close to TLJ def ruined it's box office, both for being too soon, but also the bad taste TLJ left many of us. & the behind the scenes drama. I feel Ron Howard did a great job salvaging. I am down for him taking another shot, with control from beginning! & would love more grungy, dark, scoundrel heavy sequel that shows the underworld honestly. HAN SHOT FIRST! (Ron was showing us he agrees with that entire scene of Beckett's death me thinks 😉 )

I loved the new character designs, exception being the too human feminist robot. They should have looked to Rogue 1 for a sassy droid done right. At least make her voice more robotic and less human!!! The new troopers were awesome, as were new alien species.

Now, as I see it, there was a plan to intertwine these SW Story side stories. I can totally see the Kenobi and Boba Fett movies having there own stand alone stories, yet multiple connections that weave into threads we saw in Solo. Kenobi and Han would never have met or anything, but Crimson Dawn/Maul/Q'ira, Nest and the budding Rebellion, and Fett possibly would have had direct connections. And maybe some characters from Rebels making more live action debuts? It just seems to me there was an underlying plan happening, and maybe there could still be some execution via the Mandalorian, the Cassian show, or something still unknown.

@DetectiveSnosbot - What I didn't say clearly enough, was alluding to, is it seems like they were using Solo, Kenobi and other SW Story flicks as loosely connected sequels to each other in order to tell mutliple stories at once without being a traditional trilogy yet still telling a single larger story. Like a sort of SW take on the MCU, but sticking to the side stories and have it all come together in a nice package somehow later. I would still like this to happen. I can envision a more cohesive plan to this (locked up somewhere and kept on downlow) than the new Saga trilogy. Here is hoping ep9 proves otherwise...

I am behind this. A Solo 2 would be enough to sink the idea of any potential future spin-off's. At the very least we'd only be stuck with endless sequels to the main series.
