Harrison Ford On Reprising The Role Of 'Han Solo' For STAR WARS: TFA; Plus New Pics
EW's Star Wars: the Force Awakens coverage continues with a very interesting, and in-depth interview with Harrison Ford, who discusses the evolution of Han Solo's character since A New Hope. We also have another couple of stills featuring the iconic space-smuggler...
EW's interview with Harrison Ford is a must-read for fans of the usually quite guarded actor, and arguably his most iconic character (sorry Indy!), Han Solo. Ford shrugs off or playfully answers a lot of the Star Wars-related questions, but when quizzed about the perception that Solo has softened, or become a little less cynical - as evidenced by that "it's all true" line from the final trailer - he does open up a bit, and promises that, deep down, this is still the same smart-ass rogue we all know and love from the original trilogy.
“No, there’s not an abandoning of the character. He does not aspire to the position of Obi-‘Ben’ Kenobi, nor do I aspire to be some New Age Alec Guinness. His development is consistent with the character, and there are emotional elements which have occasioned his growth. We spend a lot more time [in the movie] on his failure to master basic skills, like accounting. And accounting for his own behavior. There’s a lot of the rogue still left in Solo. Some things don’t change.”
There's much moire to the interview, so be sure to give it a read. Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on December 18th, 2015.
