At Star Wars Celebration this weekend, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy shared plans for three new Star Wars movies. Those are coming our way from filmmakers James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, though we can't help but wonder whether they'll ever actually happen.

After all, this wouldn't be the first time Kennedy has promised movies which didn't ultimately materialise, but according to the executive in an interview with IGN (via SFFGazette.com), they're all "pretty far along."

"These are things, as you can imagine, certainly looking at what Dave's been doing with Ahsoka, that'll be at least six, seven years building to what it is we're going to be doing in a movie," she continued. "As far as Charmaine, we've been working on that for a couple years already."

"And with what Jim's doing, Jim and I, because we had the benefit of doing Indiana Jones together, there was a lot of discussion about what that story is. What's great about Jim, is he's a writer director, much like Dave is, so he can move that along at a pretty fast pace. So everything's kind of moving along."

"We may have a really nice situation where we have all of these things ready to go, and we can take our time figuring out when we make them."

In a separate interview with Yahoo (also via SFFGazette.com), Kennedy talked more about Obaid-Chinoy's Star Wars movie revolving around the returning Rey. Daisy Ridley will reprise the role for a story exploring the creation of a new Jedi Order and the threat that rises to counter it.

"We’ve been working on that film for a few years and all of that feeds into our overall storytelling," she said. "So we’ve just got to a point now where we’ve got a wonderful writer in Steven Knight, and we’re probably going to see a script in the next month and a half that we’ve been working on for quite a while. So we’re getting close."

Kennedy dropped another noteworthy reveal over the weekend when she told Entertainment Weekly (once again, we first reported this news over at SFFGazette.com!) that "the crawl is coming back" for all future Star Wars movies in an effort to differentiate them from what we see on TV.

In the past, it's been reserved for the Skywalker Saga, but this feels like a solid move on Lucasfilm's part as they look to win back fans disappointed by the sequels.

Which of the upcoming Star Wars movies are you most excited about?
