Lucasfilm has announced Star Wars: Age of Rebellion, a special comic series from Marvel that will celebrate the icons of the original Star Wars trilogy. Kicking off in April, the series will be written by Greg Pak and will feature one-shots centered on the legendary heroes and villains from the Galactic Civil War.

This will be the second of three planned series aimed at exploring the different eras of Star Wars. The first series, Age of Republic, focuses on the prequel series and is already in stores. A third series, Age of Resistance, will be all about the newest trilogy and is due out later this year.

Scroll through the pages below for a look at the first batch of Age of Rebellion issues, or hit the "View List" to see them all at once.

Star Wars: Age of Rebellion - Princess Leia #1 will arrive on April 3. It will be set following the events of The Empire Strikes Back and tell the story of "how Leia prepares for the rescue of Han Solo by taking on the identity of bounty hunter Boushh, and must earn the trust of Bossk." Art will be from Chris Sprouse with a cover by Terry and Rachel Dodson.

On the same day (April 10), we're also getting Star Wars: Age of Rebellion Special #1. This will feature three stories in one issue, each from a different writer and artist, following both iconic and lesser known characters from the Galactic Civil War. From writer SI Spurrier comes a story about the droid bounty hunter IG-88 with art from Caspar Wijngaard. There's also a story about Yoda from Marc Guggenheim with art from Andrea Broccardo, which is set during the Jedi Master's exile on Dagobah. Lastly, iconic rebel pilots Biggs Darklighter and Jek Porkins will be getting their own story courtesy of writer/artist Jon Adams. The cover art above is from Giuseppe Camuncoli and Guru-eFX.

Age of Republic, Age of Rebellion, Age of Resistance. It’s cool stuff. Loving this idea.

@TheUnworthyThor - The labels are cool. I just wish the Age of Resistance had more of its own identity. It essentially feels like Age of Rebellion part 2.

@regularmovieguy - Lucasfilm has already stepped in and convinced Warner Chappell to drop their complaint.

All the kids be throwing elbows to get their hands on that Tarkin. In the grocery store all, “MOM! Mom! Grand Moff! I MUST know the orders and commands he issued to make that superior planet-destroying weapon come into being! Please buy this!” Hahah

KK and the suits appealing to the nostalgia they said they no longer needed now that they have Super Saiyajin Neo Rey. I guess they are so afraid to lose money.

Mark my words, the first trailers will focus on Leia, Han and Luke even though they are all gone. It might be possible that JJ has filmed scenes with Ford and Hamill de-aging them as Marvel did to Hank Pym or Downey Jr.

Everything to avoid the boycott of their last product of their successful TROLLOGY!
