‘Mon Mothma’ Will Be Utilized In ROGUE ONE Much More Than She Was In RETURN OF THE JEDI

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Genevieve O'Reilly’s Mon Mothma will have a "significantly larger" in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, than she did in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

In Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, Mon Mothma appeared and briefed the Rebel Alliance on the plan for the Battle of Endor. Aside from that moment, she didn’t really have a pivotal role in the film. Mothma in Return of the Jedi was portrayed by Caroline Blakiston, however, in Rogue One, she will be played by Genevieve O'Reill. This isn’t O'Reill’s first time portraying the Rebel Leader. She portrayed Mothma in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Don’t remember? Well, you wouldn’t, unless you own the DVD version. Sadly, all of her O'Reill’s scenes never made it into the final copy of the film. Never to fear though, she’s back in Rogue One and ready to lead!

Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, spoke on Mon Mothma’s role in Rogue One, and she revealed that it is going to be far bigger than her previous appearances. “We actually see quite a bit of her. The Rebel alliance is in disarray. Pretty panicked. Up against it. And she is trying the best she can to provide the leadership, in amongst a wide variety of Rebel soldiers that have very differing opinions as to what to do.” With Mothma set to have a "significantly larger” role in the film, just how good will she be able to lead this reckless group of Rebels? I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters on December 16

@marvel72 - I remember seeing these. I'd kinda like to see an extended cut with some of these scenes added in, cause I feel they add some more context, as well as character and plot development that was kinda missing in the theatrical cut.

@Potato - That first deleted scene was awesome.

@marvel72 - Yeah. You have much needed banter between Obi-Wan and Anakin, and it helps establish General Grievous as a ruthless Jedi killer.

Hopefully more of the new prequel films can give us more backstory on some less featured characters from the original trilogy. A film centered around the bounty hunters in empire would be cool

This mobile version is fine. Only problem being that I can't get to the editorials or any tab outside of news.

Props to Lucasfilm for sticking with the original actress from the prequels.

With her being deleted from the film they didn't have to do it. They might have cast any other person, maybe even have gone for a older bigger name.

#loyalty!

@IronGenesis - Makes me wonder then, if those scenes she was in are technically canon now.

She better have a bigger screen time. I mean, she's only the leader of the Rebel Alliance, after all.
