Disney and Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story finally hits theaters on May 25, and the iconic space-smuggler's origin tale is expected to have a most impressive opening weekend, both domestically and overseas.

According to the latest box office projections, the Ron Howard-helmed Star Wars flick could well take in between $135 million-$170 million over the four-day memorial Day weekend in The US, while international estimates point to $150M-$170M. On the low end, that’s a very respectable $285M worldwide start - though some analysts predict that figure could climb as high as $340M.

That said, others feel that the film's somewhat mixed critical reception (for a Star Wars movie, at least) may ultimately play a factor and are betting under.

Whatever happens, Solo won't have to worry about a lot of competition as it's the only wide release in the US this weekend. However, Deadpoool 2 is still going strong as it heads into its second week in theaters.

Tell us, will you be heading off to see Solo: A Star Wars Story opening weekend?

I'm back.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End holds the record currently at $139.8 million domestically in 2007.

@MarvelFan15 - lol ok you do that. I’ll wait 2 weeks for a decent copy of it online as word of mouth is saying it’s ok but BORING. Guess we will have to see.

Currently has a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, and dropping - and a few of the positive reviews are giving it 2.5/5 or 3.5/5. The 'want to see' has also dropped to 39%

It's prequel levels of score now - below Revenge Of The Sith.

So... recently there was an article about episode 9 leaks. That article was deleted. Is that a sign that the leaks were true? Anyone? Anyone?

@ElCidJedi - I believe them to be somewhat true. They sound like a lot of jumping off points and things you would see on a Disney storyboard.

I bet the Reylo baby thing is real. Other than that, I can't speak to what else would be true.

It should be noted that the guy who leaked this info also stated that they have re-cast Leia for her 'pivotal' role in Episode IX.
