SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Director Ron Howard Comments On Reports That Disney Has Shelved Spin-Offs

Recent reports indicated that Disney/Lucasfilm had decided to put the various Star Wars spin-offs on hold after Solo bombed at the box office, but that film's director says this is "not entirely accurate."

Last week, a rumor did the rounds which claimed that Disney/Lucasfilm had shelved all of the "Star Wars Story" spin-offs for the time being after Solo's disappointing performance at the box office.

Lucasfilm has since refuted this, although it seems clear that there are some kind of changes being implemented when it comes to these standalone adventures in the galaxy far, far away.

TMZ caught up with Ron Howard to ask him about these reports, and the Solo director was quick to point out that they weren't "entirely accurate," which does suggest that there may have been at least some truth to them. He then goes on to defend his film, pointing out that Solo did very well [for him], and that “exit polls were great, reaction was terrific among fans”.

@aievilgenius - agreed.
I hate when people put out their silly rankings because they're usually horrible Save for a few. But im gonna do it anyway lol

My fav star wars films and shows if I were to watch it TODAY and gauge my enjoyment of them (vs nostalgia)

1. Clone wars series (easy)
2. Rogue one / solo (tie)
3. Return of the jedi
4. Revenge of the sith
5. Empire strikes back
6. Star wars rebels (tho I missed a few seasons)
7. A new hope
8. Phantom menace (yup, I said it... better than the new movies)
9. Force awakens
10. Attack of the clones
11. The last jedi (ugh, almost completely turned me off to star wars. Felt like a parody. We have the rebel vs. Empire all over again. Sure sign there's been no over arching plan like marvel has)

I recall when Fox wanted to make that Stand-alone Magneto film, but somewhere along the way it go scrapped and much of that script/story was simply integrated into XM:FC.

By Howard sayjng it’s not “entirely accurate” the Spinoffs have been shelved I wonder if what we saw with Magneto and First Class, we will see for Star Wars.

So instead of a Lando movie, Solo Sequel, Boba Fett Film...they would all be condensed into one movie and focus on Criminal Underground and Bounty Hunters.

Back in the day, I would watch anything with the Star Wars name, and would have watched Solo too if not for The Last Jedi destroying a once great franchise. I may watch it online someday, but I'm just not excited about Star Wars anymore.
