SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Scores $13M - $15M Thursday Night As Weekend Estimates Fluctuate Wildly
Early estimates are in for how Solo: A Star Wars Story performed during Thursday night screenings but just how much will the spinoff earn during Memorial Day weekend? Right now, predictions are all over!
Very early estimates for Solo: A Star Wars Story's debut at the North American box office are in and it currently appears as if the movie is heading for a $13 million - $15 million Thursday night. We'll have some official figures later today but on the higher end of this scale, that puts the spinoff on the same course as Thor: Ragnarok ($14.5 million) and Iron Man 3 ($15.6 million) which is pretty good company.
It is, however, possible that Solo could blast past the $15 million mark and exceed expectations. The question is, just how high will this origin story for the beloved smuggler go over the four-day weekend?
As of right now, analysts are struggling to settle on a number. Some believe it will debut with as low as $130 million, while others are positive it could reach as much as $170 million. Wherever it ends up, though, that's a great start to its run at the North America box office, especially as it so closely follows Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. There's clearly a lot of interest in Solo despite the negativity which surrounded it due to all those issues behind the scenes. Will you guys be checking it out?
