Nice. Great video. It helped explain what's going on.

Also the Knights of the Old Republic games are canon I believe. The games being canon has always been the biggest grey area.
Marshmallow
Marshmallow - 1/30/2015, 8:25 AM
@Levitikuz Marshmallow says you are wrong. You forgot the new SW novels from this point forward such as Tarkin, A New Dawn, etc. Those are canon as well.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/30/2015, 8:26 AM
Yea I forgot about the new books. Those are canon also.

The comics?
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/30/2015, 8:34 AM
@MightyZeus

The new Marvel comics are canon. Not the old Marvel stuff or the Dark Horse comics...

But Marvel doesn't seem to have a problem selling off Dark Horse's old Star Wars comics that are no longer canon as their own comics............

The least Marvel could have done was add the Dark Horse logo on the cover and maybe give them a cut of the profits. SMDH Marvel.

Thrawn, he's all I care about from the expanded universe. And will never be retconned away from my heart, Disney you evil empire you! (I love your work with Marvel and expect a great new Star Wars Btw but you're still evil for taking my blue skinned Grand Admiral away)

@Levitikuz Yeah I really hope they don't lose the Darth Bane stuff. Such a great character and story.

@Batmaniac

KOTR is the biggest grey area. Disney said all the films and cartoons are canon but not the games.

At the same time, both the Clone Wars and Obi-Wan in Episode 4 referenced the Old Republic.

Darth Bane will forever remain canon thanks to the final episode of the Clone Wars where Yoda confronts Darth Bane.

I found a lot of the EU canon to be very self-contradictory, totally bizarre at some points, and sometimes plain boring (huh, kind of like the bible)

But now, Disney has begun constructing a singular canon that's easy to follow, very much in the vein of the Star Wars, and takes heavy inspiration from the good parts of the EU.

@MarkyMarkRises

Yea most of the EU was more of a mess than the Fox X-Men films.

Disney just wiped out the Star Wars Expanded universe in support of the movies and cartoons (not complaining or panicking). How hard a decision is it for them to do the same thing to Marvel?

Not hard at all.

Any idea on how "The Force Unleashed" plays into the new canon? I always thought it was an official bridge between Episode III and IV?

why is the movie not called episode 7? and will it be called episode 7?

Sweet jesus. WHO CARES what is canon and what is not???? Its a bloody movie! And they're all bloody comics! Ive never been able to undestand this flipping obsession with continuity and canon.

Canon will be whatever the people making money off of these characters say it is. GET IT ??

I wish Force Unleashed was canon, I really like its interpretation of how the Rebel Alliance started. I was sure it was gonna be too since Lucas was apparently quite involved with it.

@LEVITIKUZ

Yeah Marvel selling Dark Horses comics pisses me off too, couldn't Disney at least let them have the rights to reprint those? It feels really wrong for a company that had [frick] all to do with them being allowed to sell them.
jahcriado
jahcriado - 1/30/2015, 10:26 AM
I am glad they wiped a lot of that clear. There is a lot of crap with the SW branding (I think the 2 CG animated series are horrid myself along with the prequels) & this will help. I did love me some KOTOR, but it being legend doesn't detract from it being good. To bad Lucas didn't have a partner who was a good showrunner.
