We had heard rumors that Daisy Ridley might be in talks to return as Rey for a future Star Wars project, and the news was confirmed during Star Wars Celebration London earlier today.

Ridley will reprise her sequel trilogy role for director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's movie, which will be set a whole fifteen years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but we do know that Rey will be a "powerful Jedi master" running her own training academy when we catch up with her. The untitled film will "tell the story of the rebuilding of a new Jedi order.”

Exciting news, for sure, but that wasn't the only major movie announcement!

Two other Star Wars films were confirmed during the presentation, with The Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni set to helm a tale set in the New Republic timeline that serves as a culmination of the various Disney+ shows.

Plus, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold's project will tell the story of the first Jedi to ever wield the Force! The Logan helmer described his movie as a "Biblical epic" in the tradition of The Ten Commandments

You can check out Ridley making her surprise appearance below, along with the updated Star Wars timeline.

LMFAO THEY ARE MAKING THE LUKE SKYWALKER SEQUEL TO RETURN OF THE JEDI BUT WITH REY PALPATINE INSTEAD.

The travesty is officially complete. Hilarious that all these movies get announced and yet Rian Johnson's supposed trilogy is no where to be found.

I feel bad for Hamill.. this shoulda been his film. His story. His Jedi Academy. He shoulda been a real jedi Master.

Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm will continue to make the same mistakes, they will continue to ignore their audience (see Solos box office after TLJ) and ultimately creators will continue to walk away from future projects. This is the Way......for better or worse. Definitely worse. At least we have the George Canon and nothing these hacks do to the IP really matters. The serious damage to the franchise has already been done with the ST. Anytime its talked about online, in fan forums, anywhere really, its met with adequate dismay. Disney Canon is such a far cry from the original 6 films and the actual Canon so fans can just pick and choose what to watch and what not to. I'll be voting with my wallet.
