Lucasfilm recently gave fans an early glimpse of the latest form of Imperial fighter to menace the galaxy far, far away via some official Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker merch, and now that SDCC is underway, some more details on the Sith Troopers have come to light.

There was speculation that these formidable-looking fellows will be utilized as guards for the returning Emperor Palpatine, but the description accompanying the Comic-Con floor display confirms that they will actually serve the First Order. There's also a strong hint that these new Troopers will indeed draw power from the Dark Side of The Force, which obviously makes them a far greater threat to Rey and The Resistance than any previous Imperial soldier.

In its ultimate push towards galactic conquest, the First Order readies an army of elite soldiers that draw inspiration and power from a dark and ancient legacy.

Check out the recently released merchandise images below, and let us know what you think of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's Sith Trooper in the comments.

I'm pretty sure people expect them to be brightly colored targets.

wait what ?!!! they're really trying to stack the odds ....storm troopers are always meant to overwhelm you ..... but force users creates unrealistic odds imo

@knocturnalzen10 - I doubt there will be an army of them. They're the SWAT team of stormtroopers

Be interesting to see force-using troopers. I'm more excited to see the Knights of Ren. Really can't shit the bed on them this time.

So...there's no way anyone will NOT BE ABLE TO TARGET THEM WITH EASE

Fish in a barrel right?

Seriously, how are they called SITH TROOPERS? that raises MAJOR QUESTIONS!
gulducati
gulducati - 7/19/2019, 7:16 AM
@ODanil - Don't worry, they will never be referred to as such in the movie, nor will they serve any real plot purpose other than being eye candy in the background of one or two scenes.

Who wants to bet they will be seen for about five seconds in the background?

you see "Sith Troopers"....... i see "cash grab changes being made in order to sell toys". exactly the same way that nearly all of the marvel characters changed looks or outfits in each movie. more toys! kids want the latest version of the toy and idiot parents like me give in. sorry, im just bitter due to the fact that ive been pulling in to now buying 4 different versions of the captain america, 3 Thors, 3 hulks, 2 falcons, 2 hawk eyes & 3 spider-man titan series now.

and my son wont let me play with them.

Are we getting a new trailer this weekend?

So, an elite group of evil and seemingly Force-sensitive Stormtroopers in the same movie with another group of evil and seemingly Force-sensitive Knights of Ren. On top of everything else, how's that all gonna fit?
CleverUsername
CleverUsername - 7/19/2019, 8:24 AM
@Nebula - maybe the sith troopers are where any force sensitive people get sent and the Knights of Ren are like their Seal team 6 for the powerful force users.
Philvis
Philvis - 7/19/2019, 8:44 AM
@Nebula - I'm guessing a 4.5 hour run time, haha! I feel horrible that I have zero excitement for this movie. For the first time in decades, just no excitement. Hope the new trailer changes that.
Vigor
Vigor - 7/19/2019, 9:12 AM
@Nebula - i surmise they are the storm trooper equivalent to the two force sensitive guards in rogue one. Except they gather their power from the dark side, not the light. This means no light sabers or force pulls, but force sensitive enough to be truly effective in battle
Vigor
Vigor - 7/19/2019, 9:45 AM
@PeterCipher - "monklike attuned themselves to it"

Isn't that a fancy way of saying they were force sensitive though?

Let it be said, that being sensitive or in touch with the force does not automatically make you a mace windu. There's levels to this shit

Totally originated on the merchandise side...easy for toy manufacturers to create (change color) since they already have whatever molds they need in place. There's no way a storyline needed a group of force sensitive guards and the creatives at Lucasfilm came up with this. This trooper design (whether white, chrome or red) is probably tied specifically to one of the contracts: JJ, Bad Robot, Kathleen Kennedy, Disney specifically or another major investor behind the scenes. Someone get's a % of sales for life for every new trilogy trooper use. The "alternate design" universe has likely infested Star Wars too. That's probably what we're experiencing here. The Bad Robot (JJ) Trek verse "alternate timeline" is the attempt to explain their inability to use the old Trek designs...but also the fact that whatever new designs are done under the Bad Robot watch, they get a larger % of merchandise sales.

@pintoman - did you even look at the armor? Literally every part of it is different than the regular FO stormtrooper. And it's not even Phasma armor, the helmet has a different visor shape, different grooves. All the players have lots of extra details too.
100% not a repainted same mold.
