As awesome as Star Wars: The Force Awakens was, there was quite a bit of stuff that went unexplained, and fans were looking forward to possibly seeing certain elements fleshed out a bit in an extended cut. Unfortunately, that's not on the cards.

"There will be deleted scenes, but not an extended version," Abrams revealed to EW following his panel for his upcoming Hulu series 11.22.63 at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills. The theatrical cut of the film came in at 2 hours and 16 minutes, but as we've previously heard there was a much longer cut at one point. The site also asked Abrams what the longest cut was and he said with credits it would have been about 2 hours and 50 minutes. It's a real shame we'll probably never get to see that, but deleted scenes are better than nothing at the end of the day.

Abrams was also asked what excited him most about Rian Johnson's script for the still untitled Episode VIII, and said the following. “I wouldn’t want to do that because it’s not my movie to talk about, but I will say that Ryan’s an amazing writer and director. I’m obviously really excited about what he’s going to do.”

Are you disappointed about the lack of an extended version, or are you happy enough with the deleted content? Sound off below.
