The reviews for Star Wars: The Last Jedi were (pretty much) universally positive and the film is on track for a huge opening weekend (it currently sits at $105.8M globally), but now that it's on general release, it's become clear that general audiences have not been as enamoured with the movie as the critics were.

Rian Johnson's follow-up to The Force Awakens currently sits at a most impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score has actually dropped into rotten territory at 57%. In addition, you only have to glance at our comments sections for proof that a good portion of fans were left feeling disappointed by the long-awaited return to the galaxy far, far away.

Is it simply a case of the story/characters not being taken in a direction they wanted to see, or do they have a point? Be sure to let us know what you think in the usual place.

@Oskir - Critics are too afraid and have no balls to write anything negative about Disney and its subsidiaries movies now a days.

Praising those movies and trashing others have become the new "norm" and they are too scared to go against the norm.
