Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and its sequel told the story of Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice who ultimately sees the error of his ways and embraces the light side of the Force. The games took place in the Expanded Universe but were wiped from canon shortly after Disney purchased Lucasfilm and decided to start from scratch. However, Smallville alum Sam Witwer has now revealed that Starkiller nearly came to Disney XD's animated series Star Wars Rebels for a brief stint.

The actor voices Darth Maul in the series and confirmed that Starkiller - or at least a version of him - came close to making an appearance in Star Wars: Rebels during the course of season one.

"Dave [Filoni, executive producer] did share with me, by the way, he considered making Starkiller an Inquisitor in Star Wars Rebels," Witwer said. "It didn’t quite fit the story they were telling, but he did think about it because he thought that would be interesting." That it would have been but you can see why the decision was made to change that as it no doubt would have confused a lot of fans.

It will, however, still be interesting to see whether or not there's a future for Starkiller on the big or small screen as the character is an interesting one and could make his impact felt in a very interesting way in this Universe moving forward. They could have still had him be an inquisitor turned good, it'd kinda be like in the games.

That... that is the sound of my heart breaking. Why couldn't they bring Starkiller back into canon? :(

@repulse93 - TFU 1 and 2 could easily fit in canon.

@Nightwing1015 - The first game, yes.
The second game... honestly, there didn't NEED to be a second one. The first one ended well enough on its own terms.

@xAdam - I almost threw up the first time I saw the lightsaber helicopter.

@KindredMac - Same. What a horrible idea that was. It makes even less sense considering that the blade of the lightsaber is literally just light projected from the sabre. It's seriously unbelievable, also that dude's hat.

@xAdam - Oh god, the saber-copter. I had pretty much completely forgotten about that. I remember when I watched that, it was surreal. I couldn't fully accept it had happened, but I figured it must make some kind of sense I just wasn't aware of.

Starkiller is cool and all, and the 1st Unleashed was awesome, but is is waaaayy too overpowered as a character.

And it is not necessary for Kota to appear ... Well, Kanan is already there to replace him.

I think making him an inqusitor (perhaps truly Vader secret apprentice) would have been excellent for a show down with Ahsoka,
Anakins padawan vs Vaders Apprentice.
