The Relationship Between General Hux And Kylo Ren In STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) appear to be on the same side and have the same enemies in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but what's their personal relationship like? "One of them is strong in different ways than the other." Mild Spoilers

General Hux is a high ranking officer of The First Order.  Kylo Ren is a member of the Knights of Ren, a group that appears to be a smaller faction within The First Order.  On paper, that should make General Hux and Kylo Ren allies but what makes sense on paper sometimes doesn't translate fully when individual goals and personalities are factored. Is such the case with Ren and Hux. Domnhall Gleeson stated, "He’s kind of opposite Kylo Ren.  They have their own relationship, which is individual and unusual. One of them is strong in different ways than the other. They’re both vying for power."

In the Force Awakens it appears that the Jedi numbers are not what they used to be. In fact, it's quite possible that Luke Skywalker might be the last Jedi in the Galaxy.  But perhaps the Sith order is just as starved for members.  Could the Knights of Ren be the last remnants of the Sith?  Could the First Order blame the Empire's failure on having Force wielders at the top of leadership?  All important questions that have miraculously remained a mystery through filming and marketing for The Force Awakens.  However, we'll all get answers on December 18th, when Episode VII is released in North American theaters.

Also, being that the name "Starkiller" homages the original name for "Skywalker", perhaps it is indeed run by Luke and Anakin (or General Hux and Kylo Ren, as they may now be known).

There are always two Sith. A master and an apprentice.

See, there are two ways of reading Darth Vader's motivations, in the original trilogy. Either he wants Luke to replace him as The Emperor's apprentice, as some kind of penance (which is a nice interpretation, but I don't see it that way) or he only wanted The Emperor to think that Luke was to replace Darth, when in actual fact, as he told Luke in Empire, he wanted to overthrow the Emperor and rule the galaxy together as father and son.
Maybe that kinda happened.

Hux is probably more in charge of the military wing of the First Order, but Kylo Ren is closer to Supreme Leader Snoke (Darth Plagueis?). I would imagine that by the end of the film, Hux will no longer be around and it will be Kylo Ren's show.

WakandaSoul@ Think he'll be a Jedi?

It could be that Hux is Luke and Kylo is Rey's brother and Serkis is Vader.

But we just do not know.
There's so little we actually know about this film.

I'm damned sure that there will be a reveal that one of these mystery characters will be Luke and that Han will actually die and that Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia.

There are only ever 2 Sith LORDS.
These may in turn have any number of Acolytes or agents, who may be force sensitive and wield lightsabers. It's basically a loophole, but it's an important one.

Okay, I just googled Hux, he's not Luke.
But he is missing a hand. I suppose he could be a rejuvenated Vader.
Fvck knows, right?
I'll go ask fvck.

BatwingDCCU@ I did actually just pull that Hux/Vader right outta my butt, to be honest.
And you're quite right with the Star Wars archetypes, there. But let me put this to you: Anakin was the Luke Skywalker of the prequels and he becomes Vader. Luke becoming a villain does actually tally with that.
Plus, like I said we don't actually know.
None of us have seen it.
There has been no footage of Adam Driver unmasked as Kylo Ren. He could be Hamill without the mask and have Adam Drivers voice with the mask.
We also do not know for sure that there will be no Sith.
The Expanded Universe is no longer canon. Yes, we will likely have characters that are versions of the Expanded Universe characters. Rey is probably a version of Jaina Solo, for instance. But maybe one of the reasons for doing away with the Expanded Universe was to bring back The Sith.
I think that Dameron will have elements of both Luke and Han. He will be the fastest pilot in the galaxy and most likely be romantic interest for Rey. That's what I'm thinking anyway. Now you may disagree with that and I'm sure you'll certainly disagree with the fact that I think Finn will be her half brother and the son of Lando and Leia, but again NONE OF US ACTUALLY KNOW!
(I put that in caps, because it is the most important thing for us all to remember, whilst speculating).

The General Hux hand thing, though, I saw this, on Google images:

I don't know. None of us know. But I'll laugh my ass off if I get any of this right.

Here's another theory: This film is possibly more hyped than even The Phantom Menace and will be just as big a disappointment.

In one of the trailers, when Finn and Kylo Ren are fighting in the snow, Kylo approaches Finn without his helmet on and you can clearly see Adam Drivers long black hair in the shot. So I think it's fairly safe to assume he is Kylo Ren. @DukeAcureds

@ Dukeacureds

The rule of two is a ruse. Its not some Sith rule that they all must follow. Even Palpatine broke that rule. He had both Darth Maul and Darth Tyranus (Dooku) under him at the same time. And then Dooku also had Ventress as an apprentice too while clearly working for the Emperor. No one follows that rule. Its in place to help sow deceit among their enemies and to make them think there are less enemies working against them then there really are.

Also, thete is a set picture of Kylo Ren with his mask off and its Adam Driver. Also, in the last trailer when Kylo Ren is walking toward Fynn with his lightsaber on, you see his back, but if you look atbhis head he's clearly not wearing his helmet and its totally adam driver's hair.

I'm gonna make this easy for everyone.

Kylo Ren and Rey are the Solo twins. There's a big reason why they haven't revealed either of their last names.

Luke is in exile. He put himself there. After Return of the Jedi Luke created a New Jedi Academy. Kylo Ren and his Knights of Ren attack it while Luke is away and they kill everyone. Han explains all of this to Rey in a flashback. The scene in the trailer where Kylo is standing in the rain with his Knights of Ren around him is during their attack on the Academy. The scene where Luke is putting his robot hand on R2D2 is him leaving the Academy and putting a message in R2 telling everyone what happened and that he's going away. He put himself in exile because he blames himself for the deaths of his students and because he can feel the anger leading him to the dark side. So he leaves to battle the dark side from taking over.

Kylo Ren is obsessed with Vader. Luke had a chance to train Kylo but chose not to because he felt too much of the dark side in him. This makes Kylo angry and leads him down the wrong path. This is also why he is obsessed with Vader. Anakin was originally told he would not be trained for the same reason but then turned out to be one of the most powerful force users.

Luke isn't in any posters or advertising because he only has a few minutes of screen time. During the flashback, and again at tue very end when they find him and he explains to Rey that his family is strong in the force and that she has it too.

Han dies, but everyone expects that at this point.

The Knights of Ren are not Sith and neither is Kylo.

Fynn is more than likely force sensitive as lightsabers can only be wielded effectively by people with the force. If he is going to fight Kylo with no training then it makes sense that he has the force in him to some degree.

@BatwingDCCU the OT absolutely DID mention Sith; idr if the term was used in the film but the novel "Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker" (which was based on Lucas's script and notes AND which came out 6 months before the movie) called him a Dark Lord of the Sith in several places. The Sith and Jedi were starting to fade into legend in regular civilians' minds, but Sidious and Vader were stillalive and well until VI.

I'm with @GetsugaTensho22 ... it's always been my feeling that there were always two Sith Lords at the top, but a few others in the pipeline for when one was needed. So two "Darths" and a bunch of shark teeth waiting to pop up.

Ventress was an apprentice but not a Darth, so she doesn't count. And Dooku may have been "Tyrannus" when he placed the order for the clone army, but he may not have been "DARTH Tyrannus" until Maul died. He was just so powerful and cocky that he knew he'd make it to Darth and started using the name to hide his identity.
