Season 1 of "Stargate Universe" came to its conclusion on June 11th. "Stargate Universe" is the third Stargate television series to air on Syfy, another spin-off from "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis" before it.

"Stargate: Atlantis" was known for its cameos and cross-overs with "SG-1." The Stargate Universe series has followed suit with cameos of several main cast members from the original series. Now deals are in place for "SGU" to continue the tradition and crossover with "Stargate: Atlantis" for the first time during its second season.

"Stargate Universe" and "Stargate Atlantis" executive producer Joseph Mallozzi revealed some details along with confirmation that it will be crossing paths with the Atlantis crew. Check out what he said on his blog on Thursday.

“With word from producer John G. Lenic that the deals have been closed on those Atlantis alums, we can now move forward on the script, secure in the knowledge that both extra-special guest stars will actually be on hand to say the dialogue written for specifically for them. Great news for fans of the old series. There was a reluctance to move ahead with an SGA crossover, particularly on my part, because the feeling was it would step on the timing of the SGA movie, Stargate: Extinction, the events of which directly proceed the Atlantis series finale, Enemy at the Gate. But given the delay on the movie front and the ideal premise pitched out by Remi Aubuchon and Brad Wright, it was decided to go ahead with the crossover. Not a big deal, but it will require some changes to the Stargate: Extinction timeline which, in turn, will beg a host of questions, some of which will be answered in episode #15, some of which won’t…at least not right away.”

The SG:A characters that are crossing over are not confirmed yet. We'll have to wait until Syfy makes an official announcement at Comic-Con.

"Stargate: Universe" Season 2 premieres September 28th, 2010.

Pretty cool news but STARGATE UNIVERSE is the biggest pile of dog sh1te on TV!

Watched a few ATLANTIS, wasn't too bad, but I really liked and watched most of the SG1 series, after that, it kinda went downhill! : P

Seriously tho, luv CROSSOVERS!

SGU is... I dunno.... lacking something. *shrugs* Might just be a little too different from the rest of the mythos they've built for that universe. Just feels wrong. It's been nice seeing Jack and Daniel making their appearances but overall I haven't really been able to feel like I should really give a damn about these characters as much.
