As this week draws to a close, Warner Bros. has officially announced its decision to push back the highly anticipated theatrical release of Christopher Nolan's Tenet by two weeks from July 17 to July 31.
With a number of major theater chains still closed across the globe due to the currently ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the decision to move back should come as no surprise to anyone following the story, but it appears as though WB did hold off as long as they could before making the call.
However, despite the move, it remains to be seen whether Tenet will actually be able to open on its new date as coronavirus case numbers continue to rise across the United States.
While Tenet isn't coming on July 17, another Nolan classic is, as WB has announced plans to bring Inception back to the big screen just in time for its 10-year anniversary. In a statement, the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) said, "We are excited that our partners at Warner Bros. will offer a new generation of film fans the opportunity to enjoy Inception the way it was originally intended to be seen — on the big screen. Over these last months we have been keeping Warner Bros. closely informed of our work towards reopening our theatres in accordance with governmental health and safety requirements, and we are looking forward to audiences enjoying Tenet in our theaters all around the world on July 31st."
Plot details remain under wraps, but the cast is headlined by John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman; Ballers), who is joined by Robert Pattinson (The Batman; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Dimple Kapadia (Dil Chahta Hai; Dil Aashna Hai), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron; Kick-Ass), Clémence Poésy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; In Bruges), Himesh Patel (Yesterday; Avenue 5), Michael Caine (The Dark Knight; The Prestige), and Kenneth Branagh (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Murder on the Orient Express).
John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet.”
Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.
Not time travel. Inversion.

Nolan wrote and directed the film, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 70mm film to bring the story to the screen. “Tenet” is produced by Emma Thomas and Nolan. Thomas Hayslip served as executive producer.
