Scott Silver, the man who co-wrote the recent film 'The Fighter', is going to re-invent the classic biblical character of Samson, and will be turning him into a futuristic superhero.
Here's his description as he pitched the film:

I’m finishing up something completely different, a superhero movie set in the future. It’s an original superhero … a superhero based sort of on Samson.

Silver talked to NBC and says he's working with director Francis Lawrence, and producer Erwin Stoff.

Samson is described as a Hercules like character whose extreme strength comes from his long hair, and is said to have wrestled a lion, and slayed an entire army using only a donkey's jawbone.

This isn't exactly an original idea either, Hanna-Barbera produced a modernized cartoon of Samson titled 'Samson and Goliath' in the 60's, which was an updated vision of the biblical hero turned into a modernized superhero.
Not to mention the appearance of Samson in the new DC animated feature 'All-Star Superman'.

I'm not too sure about this entire idea, it already seems like it'll be a huge flop. But I suppose we'll have to wait until we hear/see some more about this film before making any final judgements but for now, it just seems like a terrible idea.

Just another way to act like the Bible is mythology. And watch them make him white. F*ck the world and everyone in it.

Why can't we get a straight movie adaption of Samson as his story is told in the Bible?
